Newbie questions

What is the width between lower link arms on:

cat 0
cat 1
cat 2

Also do you think there would be a market for a basic 3 pt tool bar hookup with various implements (scarifier, cultivator, chisel plow, trailer hitch, chain drag frame, carryall etc.) that would bolt onto the toolbar. Basically one 3pt hitch and multiple accessories that would attach. Also could be extended to a larger width bar. All changes would require 6 to ten bolts. Basic toolbar would sell for approximately $200.

Thanks for your help:rolleyes:

I think what you are suggesting is a semi-permanently attached 3pt frame that bolts onto various attachments? I think the cost difference of not making each attachment with the 'triangle' would not be significant especially if you have to create another attachment method. this would not be compatible with others (borrowed equipment) and you have to remove your tractor side hitch anyway.

With the availability of QA 3pt hitch accessories, Pat's, etc I don't know what your reason is for engineering another format?

I am curious what you have in mind though!

I have found good specs on the net before, I am sure there is info here but it is Friday quiting time so I didn't take the time to search.

Have a good weekend,
Mike

Here is the ASAE specs for a CAT1 3PH so it would work with a Quick-Hitch.

Thanks for your help guys. I still need distance between cat 2 lower link arms though.

Further info on tool bar.

Imagine a 3x3 or 4x4 square tube 4 foot or so long with 3 pt pins and a top link mount also.

Extendable wings could be bolted on end flanges to make it wider.

Hitch tube could be bolted to bracket on center of tool bar.

Secondary frame bolts to tool bar with scarifier teeth, or chisel tooth plow or cultivator tines or whatever.

advantage of only paying for one 3 pt a frame and having capability to attach several implements at smaller cost than entire comparable implements.

Further comments please?

Hi Clutch and welcome to TBN.

I have my land located just south of you a few miles...near Jenkins, MN...and we have a cabin over on the WF Chain.

Regarding the toolbar....It seems a lifetime ago....but Ford used to offer a toolbar that was intended for three point hitches and then you would configure your cultivator to suit your needs. Most cultivator packages were put together that way due to different row spacings, etc. (this is from my memory as a kid around the implement biz) I think some of the majors probably still offer that arrangement when putting together implements, but I'm not sure. Cultivators are not such a "big deal" anymore....with roundup ready crops people don't cultivate like days gone by. I've had the same thoughts occasionally....but as has been stated....the linkage isn't the excessively spendy part IMO.

The search here will give you lots of specs on the three point attachments....as will others...I'm sure. Welcome aboard. If I can help you out...give me a p.m.

Kinda wondered about farming that many acres in the Pine River area. Not the best soil in the world...and the trees get in the way. ;)
