What would be the problem here:
Moving some stuff around, and all of a sudden H.S.T. is stuck in forward. Wouldn't stop till I turned the engine off, now it is engaged in gear to move, and I'm stuck right there.
Bypassed the neutral switch so I could start it with it in low range, and it will just take right off again (going forward).

Didn't hear any noise's, snaps, or anything when it happened.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I'll take a shot:

Nut #1 fell off the
Spade Bolt #13 which pulls
Pedal Spring #16 which puts return pressure back to neutral for the
Centering Pivot Support #26.

Thanks for the shot!!
But, the pedals move freely and will go to center position OK, but, on your picture, what does the yoke (#24 & bolts #9) do?
Are they supposed to rotate something inside the transmission? I'll admit, I'm not a mechanic, but that's the only thing I see that the HST pedals move, unless something fell off:(
It seems as though it's locked in gear, the bolts #9 look like they are evenly tightened, but, it definately won't work the way it is.

Do the pedals come back to neutral forcefully when your feet come off them? If so, the spring is still in place. Yoke #24 slips over a stud from the housing and rotates that piece (follow the dotted line on the drawing.) If that is still attached, and all your pedal mechanisms are working, you'll need more help than I can give you. Somebody else will jump in here.

Nope, sorry, wish that's what it was, but the pedals come back to neutral easily, spring is OK.
The yoke shaft #24 that slips over shaft, or whatever, that comes from the housing does not turn when the pedals are moved.
The shaft #24,which the ONE pedal is solidly attached to rotates, but the section between the "B"(forward/reverse cam) does not rotate, at least the yoke portion doesn't.

Thanks for the exploded view by the way, that's what I needed to help explain. I also found a great picture of the area in another thread about sticky pedals, which is a great shot!

You probably have an older tractor like me (2000 or 2001). When I first read your post, I thought the HI/Neutral/LO range lever was stuck, but now I see that your pedals are moving, but your tractor's transmission has the swashplate locked in full forward. Read the linked thread below. I posted this in 2001 after the pedal mechanism failed on my tractor. In this thread, note that Spencer200, who works at a dealership, said that NH knew of this problem and authorized a repair by their dealers. If you want to go that route, you might pressure your dealer for some support to get your pedal fixed. I will warn you, it was not any fun doing this job on a brand new tractor, much less on an older tractor.

BTW: the shaft going into the transmission is fairly easy to turn, so if you can get something up there to turn it, you can bring the tractor back to neutral pedal position or to a very slow speed so you can load it on a trailer and shut it off with the key when you get it into position. Be careful!

EDIT: Hey Chris (DocHeb), thanks for weighing in on this. We ol' retired folks sometimes lollygag around and don't check TBN very often. :D

Thanks, I think that's the problem. And thanks for the direction to that post as I had started to take the floorboard off. The further I get into it, I see that's going to be a real treat in itself:eek:

I was laying in bed last night, wondering if that was the problem, and I see from others that it is.

I guess I'm thankful it's not inside the housing!

I'll call my dealer and see if they will repair it for free, if not, I'll probably just fix it myself.
I'm surprised they wouldn't have fixed it earlier, if it's a know problem, since I've had it in the shop several times for various other things.

FYI: 2003 model

That's what I thought too, but NH doesn't seem to work that way. If it broke during warranty, they would ship the dealer an improved part. If not, they ignored the problem. I think you can see the weld problems in my posts in that old thread. If your B-plate looks like mine at the welds, I can email you better pictures so you can use them to demonstrate the problem to your dealer without having to disassemble the tractor. PM me with an email address if you'd like the pictures.

Wellllll, upon further review, the yoke is solidly welded to the shaft, BUTTT, that same shaft is NOT welded to the cam plate (on the inside). I was able to reach through a slot in the floor, and turn it (shaft/yoke assy) to get it to go forward/backward/neutral. Hopefully I can attach a pic.

So the cam plate is welded to the shaft #24 on the outside, but not on the inside .... this is kinda weird ... I would think the shaft would have been one solid piece that went clear through, and from the exploded view, it is ... but mine is .... loose between the cam plate and yoke.

I think I'm gonna cut a bigger hole and weld it while it's on, rather than try and take it off.

Thanks for your help.
