2009 Kubota BX 1860
OK, after a life long desire of owning a tractor and reading these messege boards, I finally made the jump and purchased a kubota BX 1860. Wanted a bigger, cab tractor but when reality set in, this is what my wife agreed to. I purchased the BX1860 with bar tires and the deluxe canopy, the LA203 loader and a woods 54" back deck mower all for $12,500. I shopped the same package deal to all 16 kubota dealerships here in Missouri and these guys gave me the best deal (one dealership in Springfield wanted $17,000 !) I couldn't believe the differnce in prices. My questions is did I get ripped off or could I have done better had I shopped in a couple of neighborting states ? Don't own a farm just wanted something to maintain one acre of wild grass and do some winter snow removal. I've decided to name my baby of all kubota's "Missouri Thunder". Any suggestions are greatly appriciated.

It really doesn't matter. You are going to get a lot of years of enjoyment out of your purchase, and that is what does matter. Congrats, have a lot of fun, and share your experiences with the rest of us. John

I bought a BX2350 about a year ago. I'm not sure the difference between an 18 series and 23 series as far as price goes. I got a 60" mmm and a fel, and I think mine ran $13,500-$14,000 with tax and all. In other words, that sounds like a good price to me. Obviously $17,000 was really high.

Opti-Mist/Dodge man,
Thanks for your opinions and as "the new guy", I'll be sure to share my experiences with you all. I pick up Missouri Thunder from the dealership next week and the first thing I'm going to do is post some photos on this message board of my tricked-out kubota. The waiting is killing me. I'm biting at the chomp to cut some grass and dig some holes. I'll keep you posted.

That's very near the price of a Bx18xx with loader and brush hog that I obtained about 5-6 years ago. I ended up buying a JD 4010 with loader and LX4 brush hog for about the same price. The JD dealer is very close to me.

You'll enjoy the BX. That hp is plenty for most property owners. The 4010 is 18.5 hp and has been great for me: brush hog, carryall, back blade, McKissic shredder. Used avg of 0.46 gallons/hr of fuel over about 340 hours.

It is not important to compare prices after the purchase. As stated earlier, if you are happy with the tractor, enjoy it for years to come.
but since you asked....
I do not know much about the BX1860 but I am very happy with my BX2660 reguardless of what I payed or overpaid. Just to give you an idea of my cost compared to what your dealer is giving you, Including our 6% state sales tax, 42 month no interest, no down payment, Front end loader, 54" midmount mower, electric engine block heater, Calcium loaded rear tires, draw bar, rear tire chains, delivered, the total came to $14,500.

If you got quotes from multiple dealers in your area, you didn't get ripped off. Prices can vary quite a bit from region to region. I know that where I'm at in Idaho it costs a lot to ship anything in. As a result, equipment and implements are more than other regions.

You need to ask yourself the question about whether you got ripped off the first time something goes wrong with your tractor (it will happen). Some members on this forum have found that the extra $1K is worth it for the dealer support they get. Then again sometimes the best dealer support comes from the cheapest guy too. It all depends on your guy in your area.

It's yours now, though. The fun has just begun. You'll wonder how you ever did without it.

Welcome aboard from another Missouri member.

Please make sure to be safe when operating your new toy. I watch the safety page here and believe there are 3 common types of "death by tractor"

1: Tractor rolls over onto operator - usually a non ROPS tractor but do wear your seatbelt with your ROPS.
2: PHD grabs clothing
3: Tractor slips, rolls off trailer while loading

Don't let this happen to you!

What part of Missouri are you in?

Ridgewalker,
You sound like a man of great wisdom. Thanks for the safety tip. When I was a kid I witnessed a 14 yr old on a neighboring farm get his pant leg caught in the the PTO shaft as he was getting off the tractor. He didn't lose his leg but he's been in a wheelchair or crutches ever since. I am an absolute nut when it comes to safety also. We purchased a lot in Pulaski county. It's 1.25 acres and does have a slope to it. There's a reason our government implemented thr ROP on newer tractors. What kind of tractor do you own and whereabouts in Missouri do you reside ?

No great thinker here, just a healthy fear of being maimed by tractor...

Check out my profile, all my tractor and implement info is there along with my locale.
