This might be a dumb question but I thought I read somewhere that you can't have the loader and the mower attached at the same time; true:confused:

The only Dumb Questions is the one you don't ask! You can use them at the same time, in fact a lot of them come packaged together as in the BX 2660RV60.

We have a 3PH mower and have never taken off the FEL. The mower comes off all the time though.

Doesn't HAVE to be off, but can get in the way, depending on your particular mowing situation. I prefer off, makes tractor maneuver like a riding mower...and I have obstacles...

This is my preference also. This will be my first season with a B3030 cab, but in the past I always removed the loader from my JD 790. Especially after scraping the siding or pushing my flag pole one time too many! :D

I second the dumb question tag here--- In the Marines, we used to say:
The only Dumb Question is the one you don't ask, and it (insert one of the following)
1. Gets you a ride to sick bay (or worse)
2. bites you in the backside
3. presents you with a page 11 (read as a disciplinary action)
4. gives you the chance to studder in front of a very mad senior Marine.

As for the loader---
From what I have seen and read here:
1. ballast for some areas
2. stump / object detector in high grass.
3. object mover-- I have a friend whose field accumulates junk over the summer--- he never explained where it comes from :)
4. and someone claimed it was where he keeps his cooler-- I was thinking that is a huge cooler ( he has a Bota L4400)

As always--- YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary)

I try to take my front loader off for mowing for three reasons:

The loader can smack and destroy other objects quite easily.

Even with my rear tires loaded, the rear tires will slip a bit more and rough up the grass when the loader is on.

The BX2200 is an ENTIRELY different tractor without the loader. It is a little sports car and will zip in and out of tight places. It's an absolute joy to mow without the loader. No wheel slip. No roughed up grass. Light steering, and tight turning when needed.

For the first mowing, it's usually on so I can stack in any winter limb fall. From thin on, the BX2000 is light, free, and sporty.
