Oil & Fuel Oil for my Kubota L2800

In MY manual..it says..."ENGINE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE"..at 50; 200; 400; 600 hrs..etc..etc.

Tranny fluid for HST at 50; 300; 600 etc.

EDIT: I couldnt open your PDF file..but when I go to Kubotas website and look at the sched for an L2800...it says exactly the same thing my own B3030 manual does..???

I don't know what's wrong with my PDF, but in my opinion changing oil without changing filter is a waste of time, and you are correct about the Kubota website being different than my owners manual.

It is also different on the Tranny fluid, my owners manuals says to change filters every 200 hours and fluid every 400 hours. I still have not figured that one out since pulling the hydraulic filter empties the sump of about 5 gallons of fluid. I discovered that during my 50 hour change.

My owners manual also tells me to change front end fluid every 400 hours.

I wonder why they are that different ?

I might just go with the lower time limit on both, 100 hour on the engine oil and 300 hours on tranny and front end.

Im positive I wont be stretching my own changes out to 200 hours. Ive had my 3030 for 18 months and only have right at 50 hrs on it. When I do use it..its for 3..maybe 4 hrs at a time and then it can sit for 3-4-5 weeks even.

Im not going to use it for say 4 years just to get enough hours on it for an oil change!

I agree even the extended drain oils (Amsoil etc.) recomend anual oil changes. I just bought the stuff for my 100 hour change and it cost me about $32 for 6 qts Rotella T 5w-40 synthetic and oil filter. If I went conventional Rotella it would be under $20 for the oil change.

If I compare to the engine hour meter on my truck 100 hours on my truck = 3500 miles.

I just completed my 300hr service for my Kubota ZD21 and I used Rotella 15w40 rather than that 10w30 that the dealer has been servicing it with. I figured I'd save 300 bucks and do it myself. The Rotella 15w40 is amazing stuff. I ran the unit for a while just above idle and after a few minutes, it was like the mower was thanking me for putting a heavier oil in it. Quieted down, temp guage stayed very cool and seemed smoother. I know what I am going to use on the L2800 when it's time for my 50hr service!!! thanks for all the insight

Where's the best place to buy the Shell Rotella 15w-40 oil and oil filter?

Can you get the oil at Autozone / Walmart as well as the filter, or filter at the dealer? And how many quarts does it take for an L2800?

I found the answers:
* Filter is ~ $10 at the Kubota store
* Shell Rotella T 15w-40 is $13 a gallon at Autozone
* The L2800 takes 6 quarts, so if I recall math correctly, 1.5 gallons, plus some for the filter

I'm planning to do my first oil change today, time to break out the manual to make sure I don't miss anything

You won't save any money by skimping on oil changes - - - the cheapest cost in owning one of these things is changing the oil!!!!!
