98.5-02 dodge ram door lock trick

I call it the cab imprisonment system, if you have one of these truck you likley know they lock you in when apx 20km speed is reached.

This drives me nuts for fencing and other farm chores, I walk around to the passenger side and the doors locked keys in the IGN.

To whoever recomended me to DTR, thank you again, the boys there taught me a trick I had to share on TBN.

Turn the key to IGN 4 times (dont bump starter with key). on the forth time leave the key on at IGN, and LOCK the door with pwr dr button.
If you did it right your prize will be a single chime sound and the freedom to exit and enter your cab on your terms Im so happy this worked I hope it helps others. I thought I would need a hammer to solve that problem.

At the moment, it doesn't bother me but I can see they would in your situation.

Wonder what other tricks like that are available ?

Did you see any thing about the back up alarm (horn) when the drivers door is open and you put it in reverse?
For me its a pain when backing up my trailers in thght cornors.

Hmm, cant say I have, My 01 has no backup alarm, is yours from factory?

I was a 1 forum guy until someone on TBN recomended me to DTR to help diagnos my dyin VP44.


there are many out there that tailor to specific trucks years, diesel/gas etc.
But Heres the shortcut to the only one I use.

I have a 2002 2500/cummins but it does NOT automatically lock the doors.. I do have power locks, but not remote/keyless entry..

Yea it is a built in safety feature (that is their description)

I did turn the horn beep off for the alarm set I hate coming late after work home and setting it and waking every one up in the house in the summer when it beeps.

If I ever by another new vehicle I will have them list all the programing options
and throw in programing of my choice.

The dealer said it would be 1/2 hr charge for each item the program just tell me what you want it.
I told him it shouldn't take the guy 5 minuets if he knows what he is doing and I'de pay for 5 programing changes in 1/2 hour he said he couldn't do it that way.
I guess I'm cheep!

Bought my truck used from the dealer, he turned off the horn beep for me for free (I had just run up a $600 bill for brake work)
