I picked up some Mobil 1 oil for the Jetta diesel Sat. at Advance Auto Parts. The special was 5 Qt. and a Mobil filter for 29.99. Mobil does not make a filter for the Jetta so I picked up a Mobil M1-103 for my 2 Toyota Mr2s since it would have cost me $5.00 more if I didn't get a filter. Since I had a MF filter for the tractor for the oil change so I decided to check size and it is the same dia. ,the same threads and the check valve worked the same. I installed it today at the oil change, so far so good. The M1-103 fits most of the 4 cyl. Toyota's. If you are looking for a filter and not close to the dealer it looks like this a possibility. Plus they paid me $5.00 to take the filter.

As the bypass valve specs similar for the MF filter and the M1 filter? Is the micron rating and flow similar?

And the specs. for the 2 different filters that MF carry at this time are ?? I doubt there is a problem since most filters filter finer then is needed. But I can always be wrong.

Like you stated the 2 filters are comparable in specs, the only real difference is that the size of the M1 is a little larger. DEWFPO

The comparable specs between the two oil filters you mentioned are : Source (Wix)

Good, so I'm not nuts and I don't have to take off a good filter, I wasn't going to anyway. I also like the price. They pay me $5.00 while MF I pay them $11.95 saving me $16.95.

Did you put Mobil 1 in the Massey? I am wondering what oil to use for my first oil change on my GC2410. Everything else I own runs Mobil 1 and I see no reason to put anything different in the Massey. There are a couple of Mobil 1 oils that I am considering first the 0w-40 european spec oil as used in the VW and Mercedes diesel cars or the 5w-40 Turbo diesel oil. The Turbo diesel oil has a little more zinc and phosphorus. The wife's Mercedes diesel requires a "Fleece" filter to run the 13,000 miles between oil changes and the Mobil 1 0w-40 oil. I wonder if there is a fleece type of oil filter element that we could use on the Massey. I think I have about 16 hours on my tractor so I still have sometime to think about the service but I might do the first oil change at 25 hours and repeat it again at 50 along with the other services.

I am wondering what the rest of the Massey GC owners think about using Mobil 1 in their tractors.

I run Mobil 1 0w40 in my 00 Jetta TDI 10000 mi. changes and my 04 MB Sprinter with ASSYST getting 13000 to 15000 mi. some reason they do not require a fleece filter for the Sprinter and the oil tests comes back with more life in it. The tractor I have been using the 5w40 Turbo Diesel oil. I could run 0w40 but I use 5w40 for no good reason other then I believe it would be less questioned in case of a engine failure. Just follow the maintenance schedule and you will be fine. If you get a oil test you will find you could go longer. Since the tractor only holds 2.7 qts.( I use 2.5 so 5 qt. last 2 changes.) I stick with the 100hr. change and not worry about the oil or a fleece filter since it is not available. None of my cars, trucks or tractor use enough oil between changes to add oil. Only the plane does that.

I'm at 46 hours so I just stocked up on everything for my 50 hour fluid changes on my GC2410.

- 5 gal Traveller Premium Universal Hydraulic Fluid, $39.99
- Agco Hydraulic Filter, $25 (ouch - c'mon Wix, I hope you have one of these in the works)
- Napa Gold (Wix) Oil Filter, $6.20 (from Fleetfilter.com)
- Fuel filter, $6.71

I also stocked up on two 6-packs of Mobil 1 10w-30 when Costco had it on sale for $22 per pack. I've heard lots of varying opinions about using synthetic oil at the 50-hour interval due to the break-in period, but according to my dealer and folks at Exxon-Mobil, those are myths not based on any scientific evidence and Mobil 1 is fine to use in even brand new engines right off the factory floor.

Why are you changing out the fuel filter? Book shows to change at 250 hr. And if your fuel consumption is the same as mine 1 gal for 2 hrs, you will have only filtered 25 gal of fuel. My Jetta still has the factory installed filter at 170000 mi.. I will have to change it some day! Unless you are having problem with dirty fuel it can go a long time. The 50hr is the "break in" A diesel motor can take couple thousand hrs to fully seat the rings.

Sorry....my brain wasn't working, I just listed the fuel filter since I ordered it from fleet filter with all the other filters I ordered. My left hand didn't know what my right hand was typing ;)
