I don't know if you're being sarcastic or if that is an honest question. If you're being sarcastic I wouldn't be too quick. I know for a fact that the CAT 297C uses the same torsion axles as ASVs PT-80 and the 297 weighs over 1000lbs more than the ASV machine.

Deep I think that was an honest question. From what all ASV changed/improved I haven't heard anything about the torsion suspensions peices. I was told they changed the track compound to increase track life. But I haven't heard of alot of those problems around here. Just single wheel issues and the large wheels on the ends.

No I was being honest, My Cat is giving me Tons an tons of problems, wanting to get a different machine. Everone i talk to says to get a Asv pt-100, came across this thread bout the problems with the asv's. Don't know if i want a pt-100 now. I Looked at Rayco C-100 but I don't like the price at all!!!

Watch out for the frames on the undercarriage breaking also. Our Supertrak 120 (CAT 287B) had both sides crack almost in half between the front supension arm and final drive motor. Started out with hairline cracks that i welded up/braced up. Then they finally opened up big time, the only thing holding them together was the outside metal on each track. I have heard of several RC100s and supertrak units haven them break in half on the job and not being able to fix them....the would have to buy the whole undercarraige frame. NOT CHEAP!!

Has anyone ran the mud grip aftermarket track like Bairproducts sells????
I had to replace one track on mine the other day and tried one out. So far the traction is alot better in the mud. Just dont know how many hours i will get out of it.

I have 1350 hours on my RC100. Im fixing to replace my third idler roller assembly. $900 part plus down time. If you have days or weeks to break down, order parts, and reassemble your machine and haul it back to finish your job. Then, I would highly recommend one of these machines. The undercarriage is expensive to maintain and ASV has you by the JUNK with their pricing. Aftermarket parts are few and far between.

The majority of Axle issues that ASV had were on the original SR80's with the 20" Tracks. On the 100F the axle have been installed so the tracks actually flaten out when the wieght of the cutter head is put onto the machine. I haven't seen any 100's with axle issues.

Sorry ASV guy you are about to here some issues with them. But just look at it this way, R&D in the field. I have only heard about 100's problems, never heard of any SR-80 track system problems.
