I have a Kubota 2350, and was wondering about engine oil, I use Rotella 15w-40 in my pickup truck, and was thinking I could use the same oil in my tractor.

What ya think?

Lots of strong personal opinions about oils, but yes, in my personal opinion, if Rotella 15W-40 is what you're using in your truck, I'd use it in the tractor. Personally, I used Chevron's Delo 400 15W-40, but all the farmer neighbors I knew used one or the other of those two. They're both good.

Simplify your life.

I run Shell Rotella Synthetic 5W-40 in my Chev 2500 HD diesel, Kubota BX 24, BMW R1150 RT, Yamaha FJR1300, JD 265, Honda 50 and 15 HP outboards, Chev Suburban, Ariens snowblower, Honda Rubicon 500 ATV, Honda 6500 Generator, and Craftsman 22" lawnmower. Never had a problem and never will.

Now go pleasure the Mrs. and forget about this issue for the rest of your life.

P.S. You may want to keep a small jar under the bed like I do.

^^ That's funny right there. (My own Mrs. has trouble with cold start-ups.) :D

Rotella is good 'nuff stuff.

Kubota 2350,
Not all engine oils are rated for use in deisel engines, so you may want to check the label closely before pouring in just anything. I did a double check and it does appear that the Rotella does specify both gas and diesel use.

I have been using the Chevron Delo 400, 15W-40, in my BX23 since new.

Here's the deal with my 6 Kubota diesels.... the three my wife runs get Delo 400 and the three I run get Rotella we will see in a few years who wins. (LOL)

If ya ever go into any truck stop there are two kinds of oil...Rotella & Delo, they make their livin with their truck.

I also run Rotella in everything but my chainsaw, weed eater & air compressor.

Back about 4 years ago I was at a trade show where the Shell oil people had a booth. I told the sales rep. I used Rotella in my Kubota and in my car and truck which were gas powered engines. He told not to use Rotella in the gas fueled engines as it was designed for diesel engines.

I don't know what the big difference would be but I followed his suggestion. I thought that oil designed for diesel engines would be a better oil for gas engines too. It sure would be easier to have one kind of oil on hand. I have noticed that the newer automobile engines are using a lower viscosity oil than which I believe is only to meet the fuel mileage standards.
