Do ya have a (hate to say it)Tractor supply close by?

I'd look at other dealers in your area. It doesn't matter what color sign they have hanging out front, a pin is a pin.

Well, I don't know how long it's been, but I stopped by the former location of Three Rivers Equipment (Sewickley, PA) and they were gone. I called the phone number and was informed they were out of business. The message said that my nearest dealer is now 40 miles away, which isn't so bad for major purchases (as if DDW/CFO/SWMBO would let me anyway! :D), but all I wanted was a 3/4" x 2" clevis pin for the mower deck - Heaven knows how, but I lost one. No wonder it was acting funny the last time I was out.

So try and get one of those beauties! Fastenal - pack of 5, no stock locally, despite having a dozen stores in easy driving distance. Graingers - same deal. McMaster-Carr, no problem, but pack of 5 again, and min 10 on the clip pins. I guess I won't be running out of these for a while! But it's going to cost me $20 plus the wait time...

I guess I should have bought more stuff for my little TC18.

Don,t feel bad. Mine closed too (Tarheel Tractor & Equipt.) a year after I bought my new TC34DA as well as it's 2 sister dealers that were all within about 30 miles of each other. Thats 3 NH dealers closing the same day!:(I haven't needed any service yet but when I do I will be driving 40 miles to the closest dealer but with my luck they will be closed by then too.

@ Rick Wallace:

Yes, I can get to a couple of them, but I didn't find my clevis pins listed on the website.

@ jinman:

You're right about McMaster-Carr, at least for me. Order placed at 1:02 PM yesterday using cheap-o ground shipment, UPS dropped them off this AM. Just what I needed, and plenty of spares, and I didn't have to make a special trip for 'em.

@Dave1953:

So is that the year you were born, or do you (like my son's wife's dad)have a Ford Jubilee? & yes, my closest NH dealer is now 40 miles away.

Lowe's carries some of those pins also or does here. They have a large selection of bolts, nuts, pins and some odd and end stuff. But you will find it long term a good idea to have extra pins. Often you find other needs and lost ones. There is also the option of buying a grade 5 bolt of the right size and drilling a clip pin hole or using a locking nut. But those pins are sold even at NAPA and so so many other stores. FYI I find some tractor pins at NAPA are the highest price place to buy them, but when they have them and you need them and you are there...

Remember a country boy will make do. But not a job for electric fence wire or duct tape. OH you really need a selection of clip and cotter pins on hand.

Yeah, kthompson, I checked Lowes, etc. Didn't check NAPA. It's a little different up here in PA, I'm in the buffer area between Pittsburgh and hard-core agricultural Pennsylvania, so we often don't have a lot of heavy-duty stuff at the hardware stores, etc.

Cool avatar, BTW!

I am in the same situation ..the dealer I bought from was only 15 miles away the next closest dealer is about 25 miles away but not honest - if you get my drift..so that leaves the next closest dealer 65 miles away...Not good since I have only ordered parts from them by mail so far so I have no idea how fair they are on pricing and labor charges or just plain being honest about what is really wrong with the tractor...Those of us out here that can do regular maintenance but when it comes to serious repairs do not have any where near the knowledge of those of you who are mechanics and know exactly what you need ..so when we go to the dealer there must be an bell that goes off and they know they can lie about the real problem and something that could have been repaired for say $220.00 the tell you $1,220,00..so what do you do..now pay to have it moved 120 miles away to get a second opinion at no telling what cost ? have it brought back home ? It is a problem...but I guess that goes with everything now days.

Baker Tractor www.bakertractor.com in Swansee Mass closed up last month also,about 40 miles from me. But someone said RF Morse www.rfmorse.com in Wareham Mass has gotten rid of the green tractors and now has a couple of blue ones outside. I intend on calling to find out if they have taken over the franchise along with parts and service or maybe they just bought some tractors from Baker. They are about 15 miles away.

Talked to RF Morse in Wareham Mass this morning. They did pickup New Holland 10 days ago and will be stocking parts.
