Backhoe Uses for a Backhoe

   / Uses for a Backhoe #11
Hug a hole to put a 500 gal fuel tank in for our church, drain fields, getting rid of tree stumps, dug a hole to get rid of some items.
Subframe mount (was told 3pt bh hard on transmissions) takes 10-15 min both ways.
Good luck on your choice

When I bought my first new tractor I didn't get the backhoe. A few years later I checked and it cost much more to add on than it woud have cost up front. I ended up buying a mini excavator. Although I don't use it every week I have a big enough property that I need it every couple of weeks. Last word is,,, get the backhoe and scratch that itch.

I have never had a tractor with a backhoe. Have been thinking about them lately and sort of have an itch. There are obvious uses and I have a couple projects I can think of to apply it. Digging out my pond some, running a water line. But to buy one for that limited use it would be cheaper to rent one. Just curious how many of you keep your hoe employed?
I don't keep mine employed :( I've had it and my tractor since May., since May I've been out of town for about 2 full months.
However I've dug out a stump, post holes, short ditch and carried a tree.

Mine is a Woods subframe attachment and it takes about 5 minutes max to remove and forever max to put on. The big pain is getting it lined up correctly, Actually about 4 to 10 minutes usually, but once the hydraulic fluid heated up and I couldn't plug it in because of the pressure. I plan on taking care of the alignment problem with a homemade gantry.

Mine takes about 5 min to remove, (takes me) about 10-15 to get it lined up and back on. Don't use it a lot, but when you need it --or figure a way to use it for a job-- there's no substitute. Get a thumb for it and it's amazing what you can lift with it!

As mentioned, a lot less expensive when ordered with the tractor. I agonized over decision for quite a while, but don't regret the choice. It also makes for great weight over the drive wheels when snowblowing- have not yet had to use chains on my turf tires.
