I just use the stuff that offices use in xerox machines -- works fine. I find that paper targets are better on a complete backer board than just between two rails -- JMHO

I'll be using backer boards.. IE.. 1/4 plywood.. etc.

I use regular printer paper that I tape to a plywood target. For the actual target, I use one inch, orange stickers. I can put four of them on single piece of paper and shoot four five round groups.

I use marked up engineering drawings for as my target. I cut them to a manageable size, use a thick marker and draw up a plus sign on the back. I use a scrap plywood as a backer screwed to a piece of electrical conduit, I either staple or tape the paper target to the plywood and go to work. I have also picked up some ready target from Walmart and made copies from them on 8-1/2"x11" sheets as well.

At Boy Scout camp where I learned to shoot we used two long horizontal wires stretched between posts. We'd hold the paper targets with clothes pins top and bottom around the wire and the paper targets. After we got bored with the paper targets we figured out we could shoot each other's clothes pins off and watch the targets fall. The range instructor didn't mind that too much as we were getting pretty good at it and he was kind of impressed with our shooting improvements. But he started charging us 25 cents per clothes pin. So then we started shooting the wire in half. That's when he put a stop to it. :D

He must have been a good teacher. :D

I remember some single shot bolt action .22's at camp, but I can't remember what kind they were.

Somebody mentioned using plastic signs like campaign signs as backers. Easy to attach the paper with push pins. Also very easy to staple, too.

CurlyDave's post got me wondering about the type of paper and whether it was being held in tension had anything to do with the holes being punched cleanly or not.

Some are also available on the Remington web site - several types.

Paper Targets

Any of these works well provided your printer functions good on bond paper (#67).

For rifle, I prefer the bold outlined square used typically in benchrest as each corner makes a well defined aim point.

That's just what I did Moss. A simple question to the local print shop got me a bunch of (now dry) but, slightly water damaged card stock. Just perfect and in various pastel shades. "A good suggestion!"
(. . . ...ah yes,..the lime-green is easy on the eye).
