its not just 30 bucks.. its the full price with shipping for the second type of fan gaurd. If you look at how much it really cost them to make it, it probably more of 20 bucks or less so they are still making profit. The other thing is that its now being included in the cost of newer tractors overall price so the price is either hidden, or just a standard part at thier cost.
This makes the previous kubota owners feeling shafted since it was not included since it wasn't invented yet but yet its a new standard peice on newer serial numbers for same model number. I love my kubota, but can't help ranting either.
I don't know about that. I cannot expect my
BX1860 to be anything except what Kubota built at the time. Surely the new and improved 1870 or such, will be available in a year and then what? Will it have improvements, I mean really good improvements over my 60? Sure, or at least I hope so! Kubota wouldn't be doing its job if it didn't improve things as models go along.
If, If the improvement like the HST guard is made readily available, as a retro fit, at a $35+S&H price, I say Huzzah!!! for Kubota.
What makes this upgraded guard so important, and reflected in my original opinion posted, was that this improvement is IMPORTANT!!! It represents at least SOME attempt to assist in the protection of the little plastic whirly fan.
Dismissing almost completely the need for such a guard under the guise that the BX was designed and intended for operation merely upon the safe environs of a manicured lawn, with MMM attached, is not plausible and is rather patronizing. If the BX is designed and intended to merely be a lawn mower, than why the 3 pt hitch, for example? Why a FEL, a backhoe?
A logging tractor? Clearly not its intent, but a general purpose machine, within reason? I think it reasonable to assume so, especially given Kubota's own marketing literature promoting the BX as such. On their website and in its glossy printed material, Kubota markets the BX doing, oh, I don't know, oh yeah, real tractor stuff!! Like bush hogging in a field, working in the dirt and everything. No MMM on those machines either.
Huzzah!! again to Kobota for making the guard. But I reserve the right to withhold my ultimate cheering until this guard is readily available and the offer of this improvement is made widely known. Those two latter points formed the basis of my original editorial comments.
Yes, JohnThomas, it is one man's opionion. Yes Sir, it is.
