Blower too big???

Hey Folks, new here.
I have a Kubota B7200 4wd tractor with 18HP / 12HP rear (Live) PTO.
I just purchased a Blizzard 64" snowblower that was only used twice, so I thought I was getting a good deal. It was used on a slightly larger tractor, but with a bucket .

I hooked it up yesterday, and it's apparent that this thing it just too big / heavy duty for my tractor. If I try and go forward, I spin (turf tires), and if I lift the blower up, the front tires come off the ground nearly, so I can't steer.

Is this a job for chains and front weights, or should I seek out a smaller blower? The second question is if it's the latter, anyone looking for a nice blower???

I do not have a snowblower--so only opinions here! The weight may not be as much of an issue as the PTO HP required. The blizzard site says it weighs around 480 lbs but requires 20-35 PTO HP. How did it spin when you cranked it up? I would think some weights on front would help--it seems that most folks who have blowers do not need chains as the blowers clear their path for them.

It seemed to spin fine, but my testing was limited. I drove backwards a bit, and it seemd to shoot the wet/ heavy snow we got pretty nicely, but being a live PTO, I have concerns about it clogging when I put the clutch in to stop. It does keep spinning nicely in neurtal though.

ow...20-30hp...that would explain it. Better stick it on ebay or Craig's List. Maybe someone here has a suggestion for another brand of decent blower for this size tractor around $1500? Maybe a trade on this site is an idea?

Yes if you have a FEL or front weights that might get you moving a little easier.. If you have hills or slopes chains will help from what I understand also

I always thought the unwritten rule of thumb was 5Hp/foot of snow blower?

Well, if that's the case, I'm introuble. Do they even make 36" snowblowers?
Christ, I had a 2WD case previously with a fron mount blower that was 50" wide, and it worked great. Only figured theis larger Kubota with 4WD would do the job easier. It is a seriously heavy duty blower. Maybe a lighter weight 48" would work?

I would experiment with some chains on the rear tires and hang some weight on the front and see what you can do. Now the disclaimer, I've never moved a cuft of snow with a blower so what do I know. I just wouldn't giveup without testing some ideas first. bjr
