My 08 gmc diesel stranded my family last night in the middle of the UP and after limping it 2 hours to a dealer this morning, they are throwing their hands in the air on fixing it...... I still have 7 hours to drive home..

Anyway, I am going to buy a F250 in gas. I wanted to wait for the 6.2.. But I might not have the opportunity. SO, when is the 6.2 coming out? And what is the most reliable gas engine to purchase in the F250.... Or do I have options? I am going there to build one out now, but any suggestions are very welcome!

Might be 6.7, but I thought Ford had a 400HP 6,2L gas engine coming out?

I see they still offer the V10....

Isnt the new diesel a 6.7?


I built a V10 and it was 47K... whew..... I dont want to buy a V10 if the new engine is going to be better. I need a comprimise between a gas towing engine and a nice unloaded engine. I drive a good distance to work and tow on the weekends.

Sorry you are having such luck. I went through the same thing with my 2005 Dmax.

One suggestion is skip the F-250 no matter what engine. Get a F-350 SRW. Much more truck and only adds about $600. Also make sure you get the heaviest possible GVWR. Ford has something like 14 combination's in the 250/350 class.

we USED to have a V10. it only got 5... was terrible,

traded it off for a 76 GMC, 2-ton, much better truck, and it gets around 10

The 3 V-10s I've had since they came out got a consistent 10 in town and up to 13 on the highway. Two had 4.30 rear ratios, and one with the 3.73s, didn't see any difference in mileage between the two ratios. These were two F-250 2wd crew cabs, and one F-350 reg cab 4wd. The worst I got was about 8.5 pulling our 28 ft fifth wheel.

You guys must be carrying/pulling a lot of weight to get that crappy of mileage.

I have a 01 F250 XLT with all the towing options and love it. I Knew it was a keeper a few Years back. I don't haul much that is heavy so the 5.4 does just fine for me. I like the gas milage now a days anyways with a 40 gal. tank. It gets every bit of 15-17 hwy easy. I use it mostly to pull my CUT about 3500# maybe a little more with the trailer CUT and a implement. Honestly with just reg.maint. it has hit the shop one time with 96000 miles. Vibration in the drive shaft. A u joint if I remember correctly. I believe it was something to do with it being a long bed. The dealer apparently had seen it before and had it corrected in no time. Always had 150's before and IMOP did not give up much on the ride and handling.

As in the 6.2 reference, are you meaning in a GM truck ? I had a 05 F250 w/ 5.4 (sb 4wd excab). It just seemed a little underpowered for this size truck, other than that a pretty good truck - still one of the best looking trucks imho.

You may have a Lemon Law case if you can you can convince an arbitrator a manufacturer's defect substantially affected your vehicle's use, value or safety and repair attempts have not been successful... many times 3 unsuccessful attempts for the same condition is enough.

I always see an assortment of Lemon Low Buy Backs at my local Chevrolet Dealers Lots offered for sale.

Your owner's/warranty manual should detail the process...
