Snow HDAP or Turf Tires--which is best for snow?

Now that I have a 2720, I'm looking to potentially sell my X585 and purchase a X748 or some variety of the X700 series (diesel), One of the reasons...my wife (bless her for trying!) was getting ready to plow some snow, and she was just about to use a yellow jerry can to fill up the 'gas'tank. My son caught her just in time! She knows to use the red can for the quad, but not so much for the small tractor.

Second, and more important reason is the 62" deck. After talking to my dealer this fall, the cost seems reasonable to move to the X700 diesel, get the 62" vs trying to sell my 54" deck, then purchase the 62" Okay....call it justification!

Anyway, one question I have is the about HDAP tires. Can anyone give thoughts about how they would work in the snow vs a turf tire. My turfs work well for plowing/blowing and I've never wanted too often for better traction, but if HDAP are significantly better and are good on turf, maybe that's an option to consider.

Yes, HDAP's are G R E A T snow tires!!!!!! . have them on my 2210 and they are excellent in snow.. They do not tear up the grass too bad either if you care about such things, mainly just don't mow any tight circles on wet ground and remove any wheel weights. I use a loader and back blade to push snow around. In my experience turf tires stink in the snow

Pretty much a snow tire pattern we had on pickup trucks in the 70's.

Is there a particular application for the HDAP? Were they built mainly for the snow? They sure look like snow tires. I have turf tires on my 2305 and I'm very please with the way they work in the snow. But then again I use a snowblower, so I need less traction compare to a plow.

That's the chains pushing not the turfs. I used to blow snow with a garden tractor and when on occasion a chains fell off the tractor would not move.

SE models as a tire that would provide more traction in the garden and on snow. It was an alternative to having two sets of tires, one set of turfs and a set of Agricultural V bar tires. Some dealers started offering them as a multi-purpose tire for the 2210 tractors and then 2305's . HDAP tires also provide improved traction for loader work over the turfs . HDAP stands for "Heavy Duty All Purpose".

Those HDAPs look like an interesting compromise. I have R4s and turfs for my 3720 and have found the turfs to be as effective in snow and not as destructive on the lawn. I also had both R1 ags and turfs for my 755 and again the turfs worked as well in snow. I ended up selling the R1s.

Gateway made an ATV tire called a buck shot mudder that this pattern closely resembles was a great pattern!

I use Turf Specials which are wider than normal R3s and they work fine. No chains, just the wider tread. Good traction so far.
