I purchased a used T1030with 41 hours on it six months ago and yesterday I had a flashback to the conversation with the sales guy. It came to my mind because I rec'd a box of the Purolater Pure One oil filters in the mail ... and I recognixed that the diesel motor uses the same filters as all my B&S vtec mower engines... of which I already had a case.

Anyway ..I recall the sales guy mention while we were looking over the tractor...."Yeah... that's a Napa oil filter on the machine... the owner changed the oil."

Thirty minutes later he told me they had already done the 50 hour service.

Then why did it still have the Napa oil filter on it?

Talk about being slow.........

It didnt come from factory with a NAPA filter on it, so oils was changed at least once at 41 hours.

That is exactly what I suspect.

They may have done the 50 and just omitted the oil change if the customer had told them he had just changed it.

And the tooth fairy might have flow in and done it at night when no one was looking.

The only thing that is going to get hurt by doing it again is your wallet, and it isn't that all expensive compared to the consequences of not doing it.

At least someone serviced it with only 40 hours. They should have pulled the dipstick to see if the oil was a lighter brown color.
My daughter took her new car to a quick oil change place. I marked the filter with a dab of grease and a pencil mark. After several oil changes my marks were still there. I wonder if they dropped the oil ?
Then she takes it to a friend recommended one man garage who has a good reputation. She was home recently and i decided to change the oil before she went back. The car is a 05 new style Malibu with a 4 cylinder engine, oil canister type like the early chevrolet V-8s. Here this guy must have an all in one fit filter marked made in china 1/2 inch too tall to fit in the canister so it was squashed down to get the cover on. Great time getting it out. I know the GM canister filters were $8.00 and no one wants to buy the expensive filter. SO.. who do you trust ?

I agree with you. It is really disheartening these days when you cannot trust anyone.
Used to be that the 10% were the turds of the world......... Now it's getting so there's only 10% that are trustworthy.

Did my own mostly but now the wife gets hers done at the quick lube. Your story makes me think about making a real visible mark, like a date and my initials on the filter before she goes to them anymore.

DW gets her car lubed at the Toyota dealer and uses dino oil. I use synthetic and will never allow anyone but me to pour it in the engine. If I take it to an oil change place the temptation to substitute $5 worth of dino for $30 worth of synthetic is just too much.
