Squeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaak

My RTV 500 has about 25 hrs and every time you turn the steering wheel, there is an annoying squeak. Sounds like it is in the upper steering column. I have sprayed grease on everything I can, including the floorboard me and the cat. Still squeaks.
I did a search here but could not find anything on this.
Any ideas?

Interesting. I have the same problem. Have been waiting for the weather to warm up to work on finding the issue, but did the spray and lubricate thing with no results. Let me know if you figure it out.

A temporary fix is to remove the steering wheel and gently pry the rubber bushing slightly away from the shaft with a small srewdriver and spray some white lithiuum grease into the void and down the shaft...Gently remember.

Thanks, I'll try that. I had the steering wheel off and sprayed everything else, but was afraid to take that rubber bushing off. I'll give that a try tomorrow.

I wouldn't take the bushing off...Just use the small screwdriver to create a void next to the steering shaft...I'm not sure if that will come out in one piece.

Use the tube on the can to spray into the void.

I think you put a hex on me...Just went out to plow some snow and that stupid steering shaft is squealing like a banshee, just lubed it a month ago...Cold weather or humidity...Who knows?

My RTV 500 rattles and squeaks. Maybe if I could get one more noise from this I could make music....JEEEEEESH. KUBOTA MANAGMENT are you listening. We need some bulletins for the local dealers on fixing this stuff. Comon Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup...Pretty much have given up on them...Hope you have better luck.

I did the same as timswi. The trick is to put a little lube around the bushing and shaft, warm it up with a trouble light and it can be slid up the shaft more easily.

For lube, forget WD40, use "Deep Creep" made by Sea Foam, expensive, but a shade better than PB Blaster. Soak that sucker! I also had my ignition freeze, used lock de-icer on it.

As for the brakes, when mine sits for a while, the brake pads drag and squeel. There is a spray for this also but have'nt tried it yet. I just ride the brake down a small grade in my driveway and it breaks the light rust on the rotors.

I did the servo / max RPM adjustment and do have some improvement.

Perhaps we should publish our own self diagnostic manual and sell it to Kubota!!!!!!!!!

OK, I think I know the answer to this question - but - I have undone the bolt on the steering wheel, and now to get the wheel off am I going to need a steering wheel puller? It seems to be a press fit, and my gentle efforts to dislodge it haven't resulted in anything. Before I use a bigger hammer thought I might ask someone who has already pulled their steering wheel.
