Is there anyone who has fabricated an adapter for a snow plow on the John Deere 300CX FEL? I have the "hook and pin" style quick tach. I've scoured these forums and only seem to find adapters for the skid steer style QT. I'm also interested in any adapter designs or plow frame mods to shorten the reach of a typical pick-up/SUV plow. Thanks for any guidance anyone might have.

How about going right to the frame?

"How about going right to the frame?"

I do like the solidity of the frame mount, however I need easy access/hook-up to my bucket after plowing for clean-up in some courtyard areas. Since posting this thread I have found another thread with the "hook and pin" style adapter. I didn't realize I can purchase the hooks and pins from JD to weld on. I'd still like to figure out a structurally solid way to step the lower adapter framing back, recessing the plow frame to lessen the reach.

Cinder..
Good link.
Bobsphotos looks like a good design for quick attach to the FEL. I like it. :)

Hi, I have a Chineese Tractor with a copy or the JD quick attach system, only they put the pins on the inside instead of the outside and have a 1" steel across the top of the FEL bracket instead of the the hooks on each side. Anyway I did fab up an adapter for an 8' plow I attached to the FEL frame. It may be of some help.

Good luck Dave

Existing Loader Quick attach Bracket

This a clip from the thread and a video of the entire setup

HI Kenny,
It actually worked great.I forgot to post the update here. Too many forums and not enough brain cells. Below is the update from another site. What I forgot to mention was the quick attach. I can take on/off the plow (one pin) to use the new adapter for other uses and then the adapter comes off easily to put the bucket back on.

Its been awhile but after a few changes, I finally got to test my plow mod with some great advise from many. I adjusted my loader adapter

Old

NEW

You can see I moved the part where the plow bracket attaches back about 1.5' to improve the balance. I also beefed up where that bracket attaches. Something I wanted on this adapter was to be able to have multiple uses, so added a 2" receiver on top for any other 2" hitch attachements. With this ,it also gave me a spot to hook the chain for the plow to further support and balance the weight. (this is an older 8' steel plow-very heavy duty). The welding is not great as I was doing it in not the best conditions but wanted to get it done.

I was very happy with the results

With Plow Attached

I adjusted the skid shoes so the plow edge was at max height until a good base on the road was set and then I could lower to a better height. Soon I will get the hydraulics for the angle set and get a better paint job and then it will be all set. I was by myelf so I couldn't get any action videos. Maybe next time.

I'm thinking every design is a trade-off! I certainly can appreciate the desire to utilize the QA's on the loader arms:
Pros: EZ on, EZ off. Full dynamic control, Up, Down, Tilt/Curl, Right/Left Angling.
Cons: Need extra Hydro feed. Extends the plow significantly in front of the Tractor. all plowing stress through loader arm, cylinders, etc.

Frame mount:
Pros: Utilize the current joystick for raise/lower, curl circuit for right/left, Closer to tractor, solid push mount to tractor frame.
Cons: Removal of loader arms required, thus ending the QA aspect above.

The JD hooks/pins are readily available at the dealer, abeit pricey. Both style 'builds' on this board have been 'first class'!

Just some thoughts......~Scotty

Check out this thread on a shrub bucket I fab'd for the 300CX FEL. It has detailed designs and parts list to build your own hook/pin FEL frame to mount your snow plow blade to....though I made it for digging up trees the basic frame design should be usable to get you going.

I used my fork lift frame, Slid the forks off and welded ears on to mount the plow. Works well.

Dimondpilot has a good thread on how he mounted his, It is closer to the loader than mine.
