An appropriate name. Everything living lives in fear of that little dog until.... he almost gets ripped in half. My neighbor has a German Shepard and a Lab Cross that tore him up pretty bad. Now he will not even go off that direction of the property he likes a good fight till he loses. A big tom cat jumped out of a tree on top of his back and clawed him from nose to tail. Now he will chase cats but he's smart enough not to catch them.

Amen to the Jack Russell Terrorist mention. They are amazing dogs. Though they are small, they don't seem to have that small dog attitude. They are very loyal and very smart. And they are excellent hunters.

My sister had a JRT almost take down a Emu. If she didn't get it in time, it would have. It chased that Emu all over a lot until it was worn out. The Emu then squatted on the ground and the JRT went after it's throat, drawing blood. My sister almost decided to put the JRT down after that incident.

Her little JRT repeatedly would come home covered in blood from cats, small dogs, possums, even a fully grown raccoon. She killed pigeons, moles, rats, guineas, squirrels, snakes, etc. She tangled with a copperhead which bit her several times around her head. Her head started swelling up until she almost couldn't breath. When my sister realized this, she took her to the vet where she was treated with anti-venom. Did this end her snake killing? Not in the least.

The JRT's favorite thing to do was to go down down a rat hole and pulling the rat out by it's rear and then dismembering it. Area horsemen would have her bring her JRT's over to clear the barn of rats. For fun she would throw the JRT up into the hayloft, where it climbed haybales and jumped to kill a pigeon. She learned by waiting by the hayloft door she could tackle them as they entered and left the barn.

Amazing little dogs.

My JRT is named Jack (go figure). He will go into the garage and climb a stepladder to get on the bench and hunt for mice. The are good squirrel dogs as well. I think every child needs a JRT at the age of 6 or 7 to spend idle hours with getting into stuff they will be right beside you.

Funny. I've used the same phrase about our wire fox terrier, calling her a terriorist. It does fit.

I have had a JR for a little over a year. They are not for everybody but if you like an active dog they are a blast. The negative on them is that they are quite headstrong. I have five acres and he likes to hunt. So far he has caught mice, moles, bird(s), baby groundhogs and rabbits. He is a nice dog but I would not leave him unattended around any small household pet.

Cheers,

Dennis

Wise decision.

Has anybody else run into their JRT getting made and taking revenge? Mine has, he would get corrected for something and would find where he would take a dump on my shoe (nobody else's just mine). If he didnt have any ammo for a shoe gift he would chew your shoe up. Do you get the impression that JRT's are mischievous? Then you are getting the picture. They are not the type of dog you would let run loose in your house while you went to work, They would have everything chewed into small pieces.
