Someone gave me one a year or so ago and it works great...that is how fuel my tractor...much easier than messing with the cans/nozzles

O.K. I'm going to have to try one. I currently have 6 gallon cans and they are kind of awkward to lift and tip slowly when full. Thanks for the reviews. :)

I might have to give one of those a try myself. Not so much for the kerosene but for refueling the tractor it would make things pretty easy. I'm guessing it is pretty slow, but it looks like you could get it going and walk away. If you set the can so that the bottom of it is just slightly below the top of the tractor fuel tank it would quit filling when the tank was full.

Seems like $12 bucks is a bit much for something so tiny but you've got to give credit for whoever invented that, simple but brilliant. So I'd pay it.

I would expect that brass valve to last a long, long time and I think the hose is cheap and could be easily replaced.

I feel your pain George. Try working these new cans when you only have partial use of one hand. I would really like to know from these ultra-maroons that invented these things, How in the heck are they better for the environment if I spill way more fuel onto our precious planet with this new junk than the good ol' stuff? When spring arrives in a year or so, I'm gonna hit the yard sales and find me a few of the old style and stick them away.

I'm afraid your 'possibly humorous' rant ain't funny at all because our bureaucraps here in Oz usually like to copy what yours are doing. I've noticed fuel cans are already getting more difficult to use. Looks like they are just going to get worse.

Maybe not. This one has a 1/2" hose. Most older siphons had much smaller hoses. The propaganda, ah err, I mean literature, says it will do up to 3.5 gallons per minute. :)

Ok, I'm all for safely doing things...to a point! I mean since I almost flash burnt myself starting a fire:eek: once:eek: with gasoline, I quit. These new-fangled fuel cans have got me chaffed as well! I do like the "valve stem" idea. I will go to great lengths to save my older cans.

I generally used the thick 5 gallon plastic square soap cans I get my steam cleaning soap in. They have a breather hole in the back where a pump can be treaded in and you can use the cap there to regulate air flow. The front bung is about 2 inches and lets it pour easy. I use them alot to fll my Welder and my little grader at work because we dont have Gas there. I can put the entire 5 gallons in my Yanmar in about 35 seconds. As for safety I lost one full of diesel off my service truck running 70. It just skidded off the to the side of the road. I thought it was a goner but it just got scuffed a little. I hate those new cans because they take so long to fill something and dribble all over the place. I usually use a large funnel and dribble cans just make a mess. I did get hassled at one gas station that the lady there wouldnt let let me fill up the can because it wasnt a fuel can. I just left. I just took a can of spray paint and panted it safety red and went back and got my gas. The same lady that 30 minutes before rejected my filling up with that can said that she thanked me for getting an approved container.

I like your red spray paint story a lot.

This ridiculous, overpriced gas can system invites people to resort to containers that actually work.

Maybe after the gas can maker gets sued and loses several cases involving fires from spilled fuel, they'll come out with something better. Until then, I guess we're back to a glass jug and a hose.

Has anyone tried these:
Enviro FLO

I too hate the gas cans that the envirofreaks have made that cause more spills. Hey, at least we're not letting the fumes get in the air, just spilling it all over the place.
