Metal Cutting Bandsaw Blades

Hello All,

I was lucky over the holiday and was given a metal cutting bandsaw (basic Tractor suppy 4 1/2 inch Horizontal/Vertical). The saw came with a very basic (cheap) blade and I wanted to purchase a couple to have on hand. I looked around locally for some but didn't find much. The saw uses a 64" blade. Does anyone have a suggestion on type of blade (variable tooth vs standard tooth), brands, etc?

Variable pitch blades 4-6 or 6-8 are what i use Timber wolf silicon blades
are very good. Good luck

I use the variable tooth Starret blades in my saw...I but them from Enco.

For what it's worth.... on my old Harbor Freight saw similar to yours, I used their blades Item#42374-3VGA 18 teeth per inch, and had VERY good results and fairly long life out of em. Plus they were cheap too

I have had good luck with Morse Bi-Metal blades. Seemed to last longer than others that I have tried.

I've been using the 64 1/2 inch Portland Model Number 42374 blade from HF on my HF bandsaw and getting good results.

Cut every piece of steel on my recent welding table project from the same blade, and it's still going strong...

I use Morse blades 18tpi and get them from McMaster Carr.

I use a Fastenal variable 14-18 TPI Bi Metal cuts straight & fast.

Lennox makes excellent hacksaw/bandsaw blades.

I've used a variety of blades in bandsaws, and I found that going easy on the feed and heavy on the coolant was more important than the brand.

If it's a horizontal saw, you don't need to baby sit it, so unless it's in a production setting, who cares if you let it feed on the slow side? Fire and forget....you can do something else while it cuts.
