I don't think that you would be able to use that box blade. The terramite weigh is about 3000 lbs. I think that you would run out of traction. Where would you put the drawbar? On mine there is a lot of stuff on the rear of the tractor (backhoe outriggers and such).
I have a 2002 terramite and would like to see a forum for them. I am in the process of changing the hyd oil and did not see the drain plug on bottom of tank even though I am sure it is there.
Am looking forward to seeing your setup when it is complete

Hello,

Thanks for the look at my question.

I'll be looking tonight to move my discussion over to DIY or BIY or equivelent.

It may take me some time to get this project (BIY) in the works but I've got that.

Greetings Friends,

I agree with openbychance; the World Wide Web needs a forum just for the Terramite mini-backhoes, in particular the T5C.

I bought a 2004 T5C, 2 wheel drive and 20 hp gas, last week and will be picking it up this weekend if the weather doesn稚 stop me. I have searched the internet for weeks now trying to find manuals and/or more information on the Terramite. All I can find is the parts manual which is very helpful but I know there is more out there.

Thanks to you all for the information that I can find.:)

I haven't been able to find much information besides the factory parts manual and then trying to google this and that.

There isn't a whole bunch of info available for these tractors, but the factory will send you the parts book and operator manuals no problem. You will love your new toy, they are a great little tractor. I use my T5C quite a bit around the farm and am continually finding new uses for it. You will be amazed at how well these can dig! If you do find a group please post it for all of us.

Thank you for your response Tomanyrocks and to you Mpapiary.

I have wanted a mini-backhoe it seems like forever. Now that my children are grown I have built a large two story pole barn I call the 釘uiltmore Mistakes? It is larger than I intended and as you would guess is far from perfect. But it keeps the weather off from me while I rebuild old machinery.

Back to the Terramite; I don稚 have it yet but have been chomping at the bits and counting the days until I can pick it up. It is from an out of business equipment rental place and hasn稚 been started in a year with two flat tires. I think it is a 2004 with around 3000 hours on it. I am sure I will get to spend a lot of time in the garage with it, but I don稚 mind. The tractor is ugly as they come but I understand they use many off the shelf parts which make them very attractive if you plan to rebuild one.

I have a question for you owners. I watched a youtube video of a Terramite T5C and the transmission seemed very loud. I have a hydrostatic transmission on my yard tractor and when it ran low on oil it too made that loud sound. I wonder if the tractor I saw in the video was loud because of low oil or other problems or are all of them loud when they are in transit?

As you have asked me if I ever do find more information or a forum on the Terramite I will be sure to pass the words on. Would it be possible for the moderators of this forum to create us a group/folder for us Terramite people?

Take care,
ron

My hyrdo drive seems plenty loud all the time. If I remember right, you leave the bucket down but extend the rear bucket to fully check the oil level.

A friend and I picked up my T5C yesterday evening in a pouring rain. The Terramite had one of the rear tires flat all of the buckets were down and the engine wouldn稚 start. He used a skid steer to pick it up and push it on his trailer. He was able to back the trailer to the door of my shop and we pulled it into the work bay.

I spent most of the night going over it, drained the gas tank, changed some gas lines and charged the battery. It will start but won稚 run. Today I will be cleaning the carburetor and fixing a flat. By the end of day I hope to be moving dirt. The king pin in the front end is worn out and someone has welded the nut on. It still works but when I do get around to fixing it I am sure it will be a chore.

I came out okay. In addition to the 20 backhoe bucket that was on it I also got an 8 bucket that fits and a 20 smooth bucket suitable to clean ditch lines, which I will have to modify to fit. Oh yeah it is a 2006 model and the manuals were behind the seat!

Stay warm and dry,
ron

Sounds like someone didn't give this tractor much love being an 06' and having that many issues. I'm sure you can have it running without too much problem. Terramite will have any parts you should need from them and they are good on delivery time and price. As far as the noise from the hydro drive, mine is loud too most of the time. Every one I have ever seen seems to make the same noise when moving. Have fun with the dirt!!!!!!

The Terramites are made near Charleston WV and I live close to there. The company I work for has around 20 of these little machines and they are work horses for their size. I am surprised at the reliability of the little beasts. The Newer 4wd models with diesel engines are really nice. The Hydro motors are noisy on all of them. The only issue is they are slow to tram with only 1 speed range.
