Thank's Bri , the project will be back on track in 6 weeks when the cast comes off .

I called the dozers final drives planetaries , that is not correct they consist of bull gears etc , I was still in shock .

The biggest setback is I wont make it to the truck auction , I could buy it online but would rather see it in person .

Oh, man... that does bring back some memories!

'Course now you could get some colorful felt-tip markers and head on down to the pub..

You should get lot's of help there to improve the decor of that cast!!!

The bright side -- you'll have more time to work the internet and your contacts for a deal on a base!

The grand kids spotted the cast and said "cool we can draw on it" no , not just yet , have to have a CAT scan on Friday . Would make reading the film a bit difficult .

Have lodged a static bid on the truck at the auction . I have had to reduce the amount I was going to pay as I cant see what I'm buying .

I hope I get it though , Googled the ISC Cummins last night and have found that with a fiddle on a lap top , the power can be increase to 350hp and 1050 ftlb's of torque @2200 revs . This engine would be ideal as it only weighs 650 kilograms (x 2.2 to get pounds).

The damage details on thier online auction site said damage was only on the right and left side of cab and broken glass and the appropriate photos to back it up . Yesterday I had arranged for some other photos myself as they are all shonks . I was shocked to find the photos revealed a broken flywheel housing and a broken bell housing as well as other major damage . I emailed them and told them to disregard my bid . So i'm still looking when I get back on my feet so I can see for myself . I'm still getting used to this new age , no one can be trusted .

The expanded marketplace of the internet - Craigslist, eBay, etc. has opened up alot of possibilities but more than the fair share of crooks and shysters, too!!

Everytime I've tried to sell something during the past year has been about a 70-30 split between straight up folk's lookin' to buy and the knot-heads tryin' to run a scam of some kind.

No , I am well versed with CanBus wiring systems and the things I need to do to trick the ECU . I grafted the entire engine , dash , firewall , air con , drivers air bag , central locking system etc out of a 2005 Ford Falcon into an F series cab and then sat it all on a Nissan Patrol chassis . All tree cars had different systems and every electrical option runs through the ECU and it all works . This project is less daunting than my truck .

Why on earth spend your time on that ? I dont know what your hourly wage is, but i bet it was cheaper to just buy a used vehicle instead !

CAN stuff, you may just go ahead as long as you dont ask me anything, as i dont know a thing about it


About the undercarriage, you could use that truck axle as well and roll a track around those truck wheels. Some companies sell these tracks to throw around a tandem drive truck. It would be much cheaper, and wear less than steel sprockets. Your mulcher doesnt need the traction of a bulldozer so this friction drive system would probably be sufficient.

It was a hobby , it was about expressing my creative side , it is the knowledge that I own and drive the only one of it's type on the planet , but your just not going to understand .

Iron Horse, how is it going after the surgery? I know how frustrating it is to be ideal when you are use to being active. Don't rush the recovery on something like that. I tried and it didn't work. I still pay for it today.

Thank you for your concern MarkV , it is frustrating being house bound as I am an active person . I also have a lot of work waiting to be done but the clients have been good about it . I am also frustrated about not being able to start the fabrication of the chassis for the mulcher . I have the machine already built in my minds eye and it is only a matter of making the image in steel . It is still going to be a Luck Dip in regards to an engine because it depends on what becomes available . I have just bought two sheets of 8'x4'x1/4" Bis-alloy 80 steel plate for the lower engine guarding . I have also just ordered some semi trailer suspension Radius Rod bushes and eyes to weld onto the cab protection bars so that all ends can move and not crack . I have also just bought another Leather Bostrom truck seat for the machine , it is identical to the ones I used in LOCO . I just need to get an air suspension base for it .
