So what are the temperature highs and lows when you first set out the tomato plants in the hot houses?

I want to know who picks all that produce! Man, that would be a job in and of itself.

Right now we are averaging highs in the low 60s and lows in the 40s. We do have some warmer days, not many, and quite a few colder nights.

This is nothing, really. I only have a half acre garden. As a youngster, I grew up with 7 acres of produce in a truck farm, that's what we called them then.
It was pretty much full time for us kids and mom, with dad at night and weekends. 2 cows, 300 chickens and a couple of pigs too!!:D:D

We will put out about 2,000 tomato plants, 2,000 pepper plants, 400 eggplant, 3,000 cabbage and about 11,000 onions. That is in addition to all the items planted with the seeder and about six acres of potatoes. It does give a person a little something to do.

We still call it "truck farming" And we still call it HARD WORK. Good luck, I hope the rain and weather hits you just right. Growing up on a farm we were always hoping for it to rain for the crops to grow, and not rain so we could get the hay in the barn. God was surely confused at our prayers!!

My plants are still sitting on my porch, haven't planted them yet. We had a light frost this morning, I think we will be good after today. We did pick our first strawberries of the year today, they were good.

You guys can have all that work you want. My 80 X 60 garden is about all I can handle and I sure wouldn't want more, that is hard work.

I might think about it, but to be honest I don't have much desire to do the farmers market thing.

You can always donate them to your local foodbank, get a receipt and write it off on your taxes

Or weed it! That is a lot of work. I am thinking of trying plastic mulch in my garden this year to cut down on the weeding.
