Bottom line, roundup or it's next of kin, will be cheaper than anything mechanical, and cause less disturbance to the driveway (which seems like a positive to me).
Just need to get or build a sprayer boom that has spray nozzles that fit the job. Low pressure, nozzles close to the ground, and spray when not windy. At least that will give you some tractor time.
