I have a fondess for Oldsmobiles, it's a special kind of sickness. I bought the car in the attached pix this weekend. I can't wait to get it home.
It's a 67 Cutlass that I am turning into a 442 clone.

That is a clean, good looking, Olds. My parents usually drove an Olds or a Buick; both good cars, but I, too, was a fan of the Oldsmobile, although the only one I, personally, owned was a 1970 4-door sedan.

That looks to be much too nice of an Olds to be using as a Clone, If all original then I'm sure the car is or would be worth more as is then cloning. Even though a Cloned car can be passed of by an average Looker as the real McCoy, clones simply are not worth as much as the "Real McCoy" and you could be depreciating a more expensive worth car,
However if this car has been poorly restored and lacks a lot of original parts than it might not be worth much anyway,..... one of my last projects was a '68 Dart GTS original 383/4-speed I was going to restore it although it was missing the original engine and trans, the interior was gone, it was more/less a rolling chases, I thought I could find the parts and put it all back together, I searched for 2 years and not much turn up at the swaptmeets, I even had a running ad looking for parts, I could get quit lot of things through Year One, but it wasn't going to be cheap, I would have spent 65-75K on this car only to have a car worth 50-k...... so I give up on the original idea and decide to try and do a '68 HEMI Dart clone, basically a stripped down Dart, I sold the GTS power bulge hood off from my GTS in order to gain funds to buy parts, I couldn't find an original cross ram HEMI so I got a 440 engine from 70's Power wagon and got a 2-4 Tunnel Ram intake to slap in the Dart, I got Van bucket seats and was waiting for some other things to turn up, when someone found out I had this '68 GTS they come to me with an offer I could not refuse $$:D so he owns it now, I ask him what his plans were to do with it? He said he had a '68 383 & 4-speed and wanted this car to put it in. was going to completely strip the dart down and start back from scratch to put back original, all I could say was good luck finding the parts . he then said no problem, as he has a wrecked '68 Dart GTS just like this one and was going to move all the parts over into it, I was sad to see it go but was glade to know someone could aford to restore it correctly,

It looks to be in great shape. Gotta love those southern rust-free old cars! :)

It's already pretty far down the clone road. The guy I bought it from did what little body work it needed and shot the doors, trunk lid and front clip with a fresh coat of paint. He has already installed a 442 hood, fender badges, grill, dash and trunk emblems, etc.

I've always had a fondness for Oldsmobiles going way back...

My uncle received factory support racing a Olds Aluminum V8 AC Bristol back in the early 60's and the oldest car I own is an Olds... 1905

Over the years, I've had a yellow 1972 Olds 442 Convertible and a couple of Vista Cruiser Wagons and the family took a vacation one year with a 1970 Olds 88 with a 455 that was great for traveling...

Also rebuilt an Olds 455 for a Spectra Boat with Berkeley Jet Drive... a day on the lake reguired a lot of fuel.

Very sorry when GM pulled the plug on the Olds line and all the history...

I've got a 350 DX block and a couple 425's (steel crank) if you're interested.

I wouldn't bother cloning. More looks as a pristine example than a FAKE. Of course, I happen to own a 71 442, 455 4 spd car.:D I had a 1970 Buick GS 455 4 spd and sold it when went into service. I love big block power!:D:thumbsup:

I'll take a 1968 Hurst Olds 455 390HP anyday.. Love the 1970 Buick GSX. But if I could only own 1 muscle car it would be a '66 or '67 Goat.
