The wife wanted another 50 or so feet cleared for a paddock with a riding ring / track along the outside so that way the ring would be 150ft x 65. Well with this being New England I knew it wouldn't be an easy task.

I figured I would do as much as possible with the BX and then rent a mini excavator to finish the job. I didn't get any before pictures but there was about 5 stumps of different sizes, lots of under growth, and being RI there was lots of rocks.

Had one oak stump that was hard to pull out and needed the come-a-long and the chainsaw to roll it out. I hit plenty of rocks that either added to the rock pile or were to big to get out but I was able to bury them deeper below grade. Surpising enough I was able to clear the 50x65 section with just the BX.

I also convinced my wife that we needed a box blade to rough grade this section in. I have realized that if I can make the argument that the implement can / will be used for something horse related I can usually go purchase it.

Here are some pictures

Great work! I am using my BX25 to convert a paddock to gardens!:laughing:
So far, it has mainly produced many many rocks! :D

I'm not sure why it took me so long to get a box blade, even in the 2hrs I used it this weekend I can see how useful it will be

A horse's health and well-being will be enhanced if it has more area to run in...and a post hole digger will help you get that fence up quick. Also, you can't have him getting all tangled up in brush, so a ratchet rake is a must. And it seems I recall reading how horses are calmed by the gentle drone of a wood chipper, so you better add one of those to the list.

You will definitely also need a landscape rake so the horses don't step on anything and a seeder to grow them grass.

Yes, Matt's wife seems intelligent, surely she'll understand that!

:laughing:Too funny guys, I already have most of those attachments. I must have made the case for needing them for something with the horses earlier.

And actually I got the chipper due to the horses coming home. I use to pile the brush in the summer and burn it in the field in the winter, horses took over the field. So I got the chipper.

Actually the tractor was bought for this stuff. I took a piece of property that looked like this:

And turned it into this:
