ultra low Diesel 15ppm is it okay 2006 mahindra 4500

I did some searching on this topic and the more I researched the more confused I became. As you can tell this is my first tractor and my first diesel anything so I am a real newbe. So here is the question, is it okay to run ultra low sulphur highway diesel in my 2006 4500 Mahindra ? I have 5 gallons that I want to add to the tank, I think from what I read that will be okay. (the manual just says clean diesel) However , I don't know if from now on I should go out of my way to purchase an additive or off road diesel.

In most of the country, ULSD is the ONLY choice for diesel fuel, on- or off-road. If you can still buy LSD, you won't be able to for long.

The main thing is get your fuel from a dealer that has a large turn over of fuel like a truck stop which will have less chance of contamination. The only thing I would suggest is to add a fuel additive to ever tank both summer and winter like Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost from Power Service.

Now I'm totally confused because this is something I know nothing about. There seems to be plenty of off road in this area. If it runs out, do I need to use additive to protect engine?

Just buy the same diesel that people buy for their pickup trucks and use the additive to help keep it running better and if you read about the additives on their web site you'll understand the benefit it will gives you. My understanding if your not a farmer then you can't buy the off road fuel.
Myself I go to my local truck stop and buy my fuel for my tractor and never had an issue.

I'm not a farmer and I buy off road Diesel all the time. The difference is that is not taxed for Highway use and it has dye in it. It is the same Diesel it just has dye in it, so if you get pulled over by the DOT in a tractor trailer rig they can tell if you are avoiding taxes!

We have a local Co-op that is self serve. All that is necessary for Off Road diesel is a credit/debit card.

I simply take my fuel containers and pump to my hearts content.

When I first got my tractor I checked about the off road fuel at our local CO-OP and the first thing they ask was if it was for farm use so I just assumed that it was restricted and never rechecked. Here in Iowa property over ten acres can be classified as a farm and not have to pay certain taxes and I've only got seven.
