Steve Barlow called yesterday afternoon. The right seat has arrived, been installed and has completed the final assembly of the F3080! Going to deliver it this morning and then go pick up the trade in BX2660 FEL MMM 85 hours at my other location. Even though it's number 11 I'm still anxious to get it. As usual, I'll take pictures of the delivery, probably in the rain. Thought I was going to have to buy a hay bailer for my BX25 with how high my grass has gotten waiting on the F3080 4wd rear discharge 72" deck. Anyway...DELIVERY DAY!! :licking:

John,
Would it be innapropriate to ask what kind of trade one gets for a new tractor like that? I've thought that maybe in the future I might trade up, and just wonder how much a slightly used tractor gets on trade. BTW, congrats and enjoy. I bet your grass is ready for a trim after the wait.

He has bought 11 tractors from Barlows and sent them countless deals through this site (may 100+?) so any deal he gets has to be taken with a grain of salt. Kubotas do keep their value well so you may be surprised even if you haven't bought that many.

Not inappropriate to ask. I trade often. It's like cars for me. What's the difference between what I have used vs what they have new. I don't mind a person selling something for a living making money, actually I don't care for someone selling for a hobby making money. If they don't make money they will quit. I don't want them to make their years salary on me though, I want them to spread it out over all the customers. I don't really care what their profit margin is as a specific percentage or I don't really care how much they paid for it. I care how much difference they want between my trade in and their product.
I also don't like taking the time trying to sell something to idiots, sometimes. Some times I don't mind. Some times I sell and buy. Some times I prefer trading. I've sold one Kubota and traded several with Barlows.
Now, I do research the (true) selling price of what they have and the true selling price of what I have. Asking prices don't mean much, it's what was the price when the hammer came down as SOLD.
Now, with Barlows I tell him I'm not interested in trading but if I was...how much difference would it cost me. I have determined before that visit the MSRP and selling price of his tractor after research. I know the true selling price of mine plus the MSRP of a new one like mine. When he offers me New MSRP less $400 for mine and mine is used and asks MSRP for his then I trade as I did this time.
Hope that answers your question.
Some dealers don't want used and will insult a trader like me. I don't go back but I've been to Barlows 11 times to sign on the line.
I do know there were some special incentives that were applied to make the trade happen from Kubota and the dealers have to or can work for them. For some there are also tax incentives (me) that help with making the trade plus there is the borrowing at 0% and take all the money and paying off an interest costing loan that can make a difference in trading or not.
Never know if you don't ask, that's one of my major philosophies.

Some fact and some fiction. 100+:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

All fact and no fiction.:)

PS I don't think I get a better deal than anyone else can get. I do believe he knows I'm serious, as do car dealers I trade with, and gives me his best price to start with. I never offer him less or more.:) Maybe buying more than one from him inspires him to do a little better but not a massive discount. If anyone believes I get a better deal from him, tell him you want my discount.:)

JT...would you take pictures of the job your RD does on the long grass? I am trying to decide about a RD myself but I need more info on how they do in longer grass. I have only had the SD decks.:D

Will post pictures of RD on tall grass later.
It's finally here. The 4wd works like a charm and even in wet grass.
Barlows had two new style hats and Steve told me to get my hats. So also get two hats out of the deal. He thought it was really funny when I told him I had sold 100+ tractors for him according to someone on TBN.

Posting those pictures is borderline cruel knowing how bad I want one of those things; very nice piece of machinery.

Looks like it is ready to get mowin! Looking at it, I think it looks like a BX frame, tires and lower 3 point linkage with a front mower body. I like it!:p

Nice looking ride! Congrats hope the seat was worth the wait

Mowed a few minutes until it started raining. Grass was also wet and very high. Don't under stand the issues with a RD deck. This is my 3rd and love it. The SD lays a piled up row down the side as often or seldom that I mow and the RD lays it down spread out over the cut area. I am on a hillside and ground fairly unlevel so wheels follow dips and some spots a bit higher but on flat ground it lays it down flat and an even cut. Will never go back to SD if I have a choice. I also love the visible and up against it cut on either side and no concern of where I'm blowing grass.
I don't cut my grass down to the dirt, I like it a few inches tall even after it's cut. That may make a difference between SD and RD but I don't know how.

Nice looking ride! Congrats hope the seat was worth the wait
It is. It has some spring to the seat, adjustable by riders weight, tilt steering wheel, seat back adjusts, I think there is a back bolster adj, arms also adj individually if you lean more to one side or the other or are lop sided but it's the same as the seat on my F2680E.

Well, I know what at a pain it is to break these things, so I'm offering to break it in for you. 100 hours and it will be already for you. I'll give you directions to my house, and as much work as it is to break them in, I still won't charge you anything.:D

Nice looking mower to say the least. I've never driven one, but always thought of them as being the top of the line mower, bar none.

That's mighty knid of you. Did you plan on doing the 50 hour service while you had it? Just filters, oil, clean screen and replace what fluid leaks out from filter and screen removal/replacement.
These directions indicate you want me to deliver it?
To me they are the top of the line mower and I've tried a few different ones.
I'll get back to you on your offer later.:)

And those are just the one's John has traded in. :D I am on Barlow's site in another tab right now looking for the one John traded in because it is probably better than new....as in "good as new" but "pretested."

JT thanks for the pics. I have an idea of the job the RD does. Looks great, also a nice machine.:drool:

   / D-DAY F3080 #17
Sweet! That is a good looking machine that will make mowing go a little faster. I too like the rear discharge better than the side discharge. The only thing wrong with that machine is that it is not mine! Enjoy that fine piece of equipment.

Is this the end of pictures from Barlows? :)

   / D-DAY F3080 #19
I wish I could find a way to mount that deck on the 3ph of my BX flip the seat and steering 180 degrees, and then drive backwards.

Having two BXs (much less three) never made much sense to me, but having an F series for the grass and a B series for other tractor work is something I definitely would do if I could afford it (drool, drool). Congrats John; that's a great combo you have!!

Hey John
Take extra care of this one cause I may have to talk to Brady when you trade up, across or down. I think that machine could find a home in my tractor stable. Make sure they use the SUDT if they change the hydro fluid. :D:D I know John its a tough job but someone has to do it so it might as well be you right. Oh might I add that is one nice looking machine,Congratulations.
