looks like they are taking seven-10 off the market: an the weaker 5 will be next: they already took the water soluable(misspelled) off the market: not sure what i would use now if we had another round of army worms hit?

Like any good thing, most people over used it. It also kills honey bees. Supposedly, they take it back to the hive with them on their fury little bodies and spread it around inside the hive. Personally, I'm glad to see it go.

having lost my last hive of bees just a couple weeks ago: i know they are in trouble: but i have used seven dust for years, an never had a problem losing bees: till the last few years an it doesn't appear to be from insecticides? squash bugs an whatever eats tomato vines, plus grubworms were all kept under control with seven dust.

I have some Sevin Dust, but I prefer the liquid concentrate that I can mix and spray from a pump-up sprayer. I can get it under the leaves much easier and drench the stems of curcubits like squash, keeping the insecticide away from blooms. I have found the recommended concentration to be very effective. I used some old concentrate at the beginning of this season and found it has lost its potency. I bought a new bottle and it kicked butt on the bugs.

Here in Ontario the Province banned "all" pesticides and herbicides for non farm use. Retail stores can no longer sell these products to residential users. We can only purchase these products at registered farm supply stores and only if you have a pesticide license. The government has forced most people to go organic. Not even licensed farmers or "Weedman type" commercial lawn care people can spray a yard with any herbicide like 2-4-d on residential yards. Diatomaceous earth is one of the few products most home gardeners can still use to control bugs.

i just bought some of the liquid concentrate yesterday: will try it later an see how it works: i do like the better control of a sprayer over dusting:

For me, it's a shame to see this stuff pulled. I not only use it once a week on my dogs, both the border collie porch/house/herding dogs and on the livestock guard dogs that stay down in the pasture full time........The dust totally controls the tick population that thrives even when using advantage and other stuff....

We also use it the powder to spread on the floor of the sheds after cleaning them a couple of times a week to help control flies.......Works for us....Yes, we also use predators.....anyway the gov will keep on and on till there is no gas, no personal liberty and little life as YOU and I knew or know it.........God bless the USA.......Dennis

This has little to do with government and everything to do with private citizens overusing products to the point of contaminating other people's water, land, etc...

While most of us probably apply these chemicals according to the directions, many people adhere to the "if a little works good a lot will work better" method and mess it up for the rest of us. Blame your neighbors, not your elected officials.

Thousands of successful and very profitable organic gardeners/farmers are doing without the pesticides. It requires "relearning" and using other techniques to adjust, but it can be done. Yes, pesticides were simply over done to the point that bugs develop resistance, but residuals of these chemicals are in our water, soils and worse, in our bodies. I am neither an alarmist nor a radical "tree hugger", (whoever those folks are). Just an old country boy.

I grew up commercial farming with chemicals so the necessary adjustments have been challenging, but it can be done, is being done quite successfully. We all just have to re-learn other methods. I am not going to waste my time whining about it, but working my behind off to learn new tricks. I'm an old dog, and if I can do it, anyone can.
