i have problem when i go to raise the boom. when i try to open the boom control valve slightly, just to raise boom very slowly, the boom creeps down. if i open the valve fully, the boom goes up immediately. also, boom does not creep down if valve is in neutral. i have a web site that has a schematic of the control valve assembly, sorry i don't know how to insert link. www.messicks.com/Woods/7aspx thanks, buckeye bob

Welcome to TBN:D

These problems are often related to the linkages between the joystick and the spool valve. Check for excess play in the joints, and see if they are lubricated.

Sounds like the LOAD CHECK VALVE is leaking....stuck a bit open, from a piece of debris....or maybe spring is "shot"....
Question: Does the valve have individual check valves for each spool? Usually they are mounted under a HEX cap between the work ports....

Turn off engine, and unload all the pressure in the cylinders...especially the boom....and open the load check for the boom, and try to clean out eventual debris....CAUTION: expect a light spring under the cap....

btw....your link did not work....please re-copy and paste, and re-post link....

Good call on the load checks, I forgot about them:confused2:

See if this link works: Woods 1050 You will have to click the Valve Control link at the bottom.

should i be able to feather valve without boom dropping?
Got the link working..seems like the valve has a newer design...load check might be under the workport relief valves....see my pic...

Can you track the brand and model# of that valve??....should be visible on a little type plate....sort of reminds me about a 10 year old Parker valve....:confused2:

AKKAMAAN, kennyd's post right above your last post is the same parts breakdown as i was referring to. your diagram is my valve, but the part you have highlighted is labeled as a shock/ dampening valve. there is a check valve on the diagram but i don't know where it's located on the control valve assembly. also, i'm not sure which valve is the boom control valve. my backhoe is 30 miles away, cannot take quick look at it. thanks AKKAMAAN

AKKAMAAN, could you pinpoint where exactly load check valves are located on parts diagram. could they be located under the shock/dampening valve? thank you for your help, i've learned more from you this evening than in all my other attempts
