Does anyone here own a 2425 and use it in the wood or any sloped areas?

I'm thinking that one of these models is what I need to take care of 7 acres in Tenn. I think that I would find the lower seating position more advantageous to what I'm going to use it for especially in the hills.

I used to own a hydraulic company and welding and fabrication business and still do a lot of hydraulic design work and fabrication, so not afraid of the lack of dealer(s). I can definitely keep it running and make improvements where necessary. My first change would be a good suspension seat. That Seat on there looks a little on the thin side.

In perusing the threads I didn't see much on the 2425. PT is offering $4K off on the 2425 but the seating position looks a little elevated for hilly work and I think I will use the power hoe more than a conventional back hoe.

Can I get some of your thoughts before I pull the trigger on this from anyone familiar with both machines ?

thanks

Plan to mow or brush cut? The 24xx series machines are not designed for those applications. With hilly terrain you would probably be much better off with the 425 anyway. Welcome to TBN!

Yes I want the ability to at least brush cut and use a roto tiller attachment.
It appears that the 425 is the way to go.
Shipping is so expensive I want to make good choices on attachments for the initial trucking to get everything at once. So I am reading the post on the attachments with a lot of interest from the guys with similar property and programs.

No chance of you going to PT to test the machine and bring it home yourself? You can't be that far away from Tazwell if you're in Tennessee. It's pretty well recommended around here to at least try it before you buy it. PT's can be a bit quirky.

I think that you are better off with the 425. If you need to do a lot of backhoe work then the 2425 would be a good choice, but anything else the 425 is the way to go. When i went to Tazwell, Christy told me that the 425 will out work the 2425. Let us know how you make out.

Where are you located? Maybe someone local to you can show you theres.

I would vote for the 1430 with the land you have.

Thanks for the response.
I live in SE Fl most of the time but have this 7.5 acre property in Southeast Tenn on NC/ Georgia border. I am getting it ready for retirement program. Its in the Smokies so much of it is rather steep! Need a billy goat machine.
Have to be real careful with drainage and things like that so need equipment to deal with drainage issues, ditching and piping and rip rap. Already have a small log cabin and 32 by 24 log man cave for shop with 6 in con floor. So need to make some roads and get a big garden started and manage woodlot. the PT 425 seems like it would be about right for 7.5 acres with the plethora of attachments. I like the power hoe :D, I have a lot of uses for that already. If I need a backhoe I'll just rent one
Grapple Bucket looks interesting. I have skads of welding equipment so can manufacture specialty items to hook on the quick disconnect thing.
I love hydraulics so this animal has my interest.

If anyone in FL or E Tenn. has a 425 I can try please give me a shout on here. Whats the best airport for the Tazemanian visit to the PT factory, and is "Chris" the right guy to talk to there?

Thanks

The more you talk the more I here 1430... Not to desparage the fantastic 425, but hills, digging, lifting and tugging on that scale are going to need a bit more than the 425 can give you IMO, then again, it is a big chunk of change...

I agree. If you can afford it, get the 1430. The 425 is quick, but hard digging is a struggle. Also, I believe the 1430 will climb steep grades better.
