Im sorry this thread has been hyjacked but, Norm i did not realize the Yanmar filters were washable! I have one Al frame and filter media in between and has the rubber gasket on it. Do i just wash with a low pressure water flow. Should i oil the filter after? Should i use my filter recharge kit for cleaning and oiling my fram Air Hog filter?

Thanks for the help, does anyone know the correct size spring for it? hoping we could just pick one up local.

id ahve to measure. I relly would keep using what you have if it lifts and dosent leak down. Unless you can pick up one for say under $10 at JD or TSC. Remember some of the older JD like maybe 690 or others are almost identical to ours and may have that same spring, you could search the JD pages for it local.

Why not just order the correct one from a Yanmar parts dealer?

I don't believe Hoye has OEM parts. That one may not be washable. Actually, I have washed mine and atored it away, in case the aftermarket filters ever go away.

Norm, can you post a photo of that washable air filter some time?

I bought a couple of really old unopened Yanmar air filters off Ebay, so old the packaging is green instead of red (1970's??). They seem to be made of fuzzy paper like felt. I wonder if they could be the washable model.

Sorry i did not make myself clear. I have an OE i beleive as its AL framed and has tiny Yanmar bird Y-shaped things stamped in to the frame, this cam e in my tractor. When i purchased some pins, filters and small things i ordered on or Hoyes "aftermarket" filters, which is still in the box AAron sent it to me in and wrapped in plastic. That is a Good i dea about using the aftermarket ones and then storing the OE if it is indeed washable. I will get a pic of it if i remember today.

I just blew mine out with light air this last week as it was dirty, there was a noticible difference in the smoke when loaded up, the smoke got fainter after just a tap and blow out. But it was pretty dirty too, lots of grass seed and dust.
