I have a 900 RTV Kubota with the diesel engine. I notice the noise level is higher than I would like. Is there any way to use mats or something to damper the noise level. I have a top and windshield but no cab enclosure. Sure like the machine and it is stout but need to do something about the noise level. Thanks for any suggestions.

J D,

I have a RTV 900 too, and don't find it particularly noisy. But that's me. Have you checked your muffler?

I'm probably guilty of thinking inside the box, but I can't come up with a practical way of solving your problem other than to recommend hearing protection -- ear plugs or headphones.

I have a Mule and it is realy load also. Found out my air intake runs threw my roll bar. Walk about 10' from it and u can hardly hear it. Would like to know the same thing about mine. Is there any way to make mine quite also?

My machine has less than 10 hours on it. What should I check regarding the muffler?
It does not sound like a muffler problem just a general vibration and diesel engine noise much like my tractor when the cab doors are open. Just thought maybe some rubber mats in the bed and under the seat might dampen the noise a bit. Just wondered if anyone had tried that route.

I thought your RTV was older and that your muffler may have rusted through. My mistake.

I recall reading several messages from members who had purchased stall mats and trimmed them to fit their dump beds with the objective of protecting their beds. Perhaps they will chime in to say whether the mats provided any sound reduction.

My take is that it's the nature of the beast -- some vibration and noise are to be expected.

The winshield and roof are probably adding to the noise..When I put those on my 500 the noise level seemed to double. A rear glass helped quite a bit.

I have an RTV 900, and love it, but agree that there is some noise and vibration but not over what I would expect from a diesel engine with little isolating it from the cab. I installed one of the 1" heavy rubber stall mats that I picked up at TSC and cut to fit in the bed. Since it has been awhile since I installed it and I was putting it in to protect the bed I really don't remember if it did much to reduce the noise we are talking about. I would think the gap between the roll cage of the cab and the bed would be where some of the noise comes from but i'm not sure how you would go about sealing off that area. I just believe its the nature of the beast! Good luck with any solutions you come up with.

I own and RTV 900 also I have read that the mats or Rhinno spray in lining help in box. .Since the engine is rear of where your sitting any thing that you add behind you should help some.Try placing a blanket over rear screen then take it for a ride see if it does anything for you. But keep in mine it is a diesel, expect some nosie and vibration for sure.

well depending on if you get the machine wet alot you might wanna look into a car stereo store that sell the noice eliminating paper. i used this stuff back in the 80's and 90's in cars and it worked really good at cancelling out the road and engine noise. i forgot the name of the stuff but if you go and ask a installer about it they will know what your talking about.
