According to this picture:

Trac Vac Model 880 Lawn Vac

it looks like you disconnect the vac line before dumping. Is this a concern?

If it is not and you just need to dump, a winch setup on the front of the trailer to lift it for dumping would mean just two wires back to your tractor and do it electrically. And if you used the winch like a spool, line wrapped around the drum 6-8 times and each end tied to the dump box, you could get a lifting force or up pull as well as a down pull to return it when empty.
This would work if trailer is not heavy or balanced to return by itself. Then you just need to think of a release for the end gate.

The discharge shoot has to be disconnected with one clip before dumping, that's the easy part. Its the pain of removing the rear door, might just hinge it on one side.

Install a false bottom at a 20 degree slope to the rear to aid in dumping ,it fills a little quicker but is easier to unload.

I'm thinking I'm gonna end up with two cylinders on this thing. One to Dump and the other to open the door, I will post some pictures when its done. Besides I already have one of the cylinders.

I pretty much have the same unit behind my Kubota. I too was looking into making it easier to unload but everything I thought of cost more to fabricate than the gains of the 10 minutes or so it takes with a metal rake to unload it.

I was thinking of a clam shell box on the 3pt that would be slightly smaller than wagon, kind of like the easy rake in this post http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/1800740-post8.html.

I think adding any weight up top on the Trac Vac would make it unstable as well as putting on bigger wheels. I have tipped my more than once when near empty on even terrain.

How about using a hydraulic piston with a pusher plate to push the contents out, similar to a wood splitter?

That's what I was originally thinking , Like the way Garbage trucks unload, I wanted to steal some one else's idea to engineer it. I was hoping someone else here had already figured out how to do it ?

I'm looking for ideas to mount the cylinder , The pusher would need a long stroke to run the length of the trailer, like 48 of travel. Unless there is another way to get the pusher to run the length of the trailer without using a cylinder, maybe a hydraulic motor and chain mechanism ???
???

Option 1:

How about a second floor, with back, that is connected to a tab through the main floor, and attached to a long stroke hyd cyl. Pull a latch, the rear door would unhinge, and the upper floor , attached to the hyd cyl would move the load out the open door, dump, and then retract. Door would close and latch.

Option 2:

Two hyd cyl on each side would push the inner compartment out and dump the load. Might even make the hyd cyl push the compartment and open the door at the same time.

You will have to beef up the mounting brackets.

I'm on the same page JJ , is there a way to get the pusher to run the length without using a 4 foot cylinder ?
