Accidently put gasoline in Kubota L3240

I filled up my portable gas generator tank with diesel by mistake, but did not run it. I assume I have to drain the tank AND the carb and fuel filter now?

No, it should be fine if you simply drain the tank and fuel line. If the generator seems reluctant to start, spray a bit of gas in the carb mouth. Once it fires a few times and works the little bit of remaining diesel through the carb, it'll act like burning mixed gas. Worst case you'll have to drain the carb. Diesel won't harm a gas engine, at least not a carbureted one, it simply won't run on it.

I'm not a mechanic, but I don't see why a deisel would score up it insides from gas when gas engines don't..

About the only damage to the cylinders or heads/valves would be from detonation/preignition. The injector pump and injectors are intolerant of gas, so they wouldn't be so forgiving. Hopefully there was enough diesel left to give them some lubrication, but the fact that it ran for quite a while before it quit isn't a good sign.

My brother back in the 80's was always getting diesel fuel in his Pinto, it did not hurt it. Gas in a diesel is another story.

The Diesel Mechanic at my local Kubota Dealer said the BX24 in the shop was filled with gas and run till it quit...

Apparently, pre-ignition seized/scored the cylinders and cracked the head from the extra heat.

It sounds like its locked up. Aside from lubrication issues the addition of gasoline lowered the octane/cetane level ALOT. I could imagine it was predetonating its buns off till something let go and "stall" no more starty. Hate to say it but im pretty sure your engine is toast, obviously it may not be... Just my guess, but either way have it checked out and best of luck that its something simple like an air pocket, but that wouldnt expkain the stall in the first place :/

I rest my case! Btw weve alk been guessing at this... Any news?

sorry for the delay. yes the engine will turn over with the starter. I removed the inlet fuel line from the injector pump and it is flowing with diesel. however, when I loosened the injector line from the pump i see no diesel being pumped to the cylinder. Any suggestions on how to test the pump. I have three injector pump lines, one for each cylinder i would assume. Is there anything that i am missing to determine if the pump is damaged. Also, can anyone tell me where to locate a service manual or instructions on how to remove the pump.

Once the air has been bled from the pump (see owner's manual), the pump should spit fuel out of the injection lines (removed at the pump or injector end) when you turn the engine over. It may take a few seconds to fill the injection lines with fuel, so allow 20 seconds of cranking to fill the line if you remove the injector end. You should see fuel almost immediately if you remove the pump end of the line. If there is no fuel coming at this point, you either have a fuel shutoff solenoid problem (he** of a coincidence) or the pump elements are seized. They are a piston type pump with helices cut into the plungers to meter the amount of fuel required.

If you're going to remove the pump, best to get a shop manual for that tractor or call in the dealer.

I am on this one with you. I remeber that all trucks in CZ army would run on gas even though they were diesels. They would not start on gas but when they warmed up they woud run on gas just fine.

Diesel engines have much tighter tolerances than gas engines. They rely on the lubricity of the fuel. The injection pump has to make roughly 4000 psi. Again very tight tolerances. The ignition is also very different. Compression ratios are worlds apart. Just not compatible.
