Ok! Ok! Apparently it can happen. Too may people have said so now for me to not believe it. I will eat crow and admit I was 100% wrong to call bullsh*t on those who said it happened to them.

To everyone that this has happened to, you have my apologies. (and possible a future in the circus :D)

OK....I am not gonna tell stories from my youth anymore for fear of someone calling bullschmdit.;)

Good BS Retraction!

I have a dumbest thing I ever did with a TRAIN event I think you may enjoy some day.

Normally I do not wish misfortune on to anyone. There was a day many years ago that seeing this made my day....

I was going walleye fishing one winter morning and had backed my boat down to the water. I got out and double checked things before I unloaded. During that time another guy came to the put it and was in a REALLY bad mood. He was very pissed that I had the only lane open occupied and decided he was going to cram his boat in next to mine to get out on the water. He cussed me out saying there was enough room for two boats if I would have just used the right side. He put his boat in the water and and got back in his truck to park it and when he got back to the water his boat had sunk. When I got back to the ramp after a couple hours there were a lot of people around and on the shore was the front of his boat and the rest was stll bobbing in the water. The thought crossed my mind to yell at him for sinking his boat right on the ramp...

I took a joy ride on the frozen lake when I was a kid. The ice was nice and clear and I remember thinking 'that's strange' when I saw the cracks comming from behind on either side and always ending right in the middle underneath me. Those old farmalls have great visibility. Did not get the full effect of my stupidity that time.

My family has a cabin by about 300 ac lake. In fact there were several hundred cabins around. When the lake froze in the winter and the ice was strong enough we would run our cars on the ice making doughnuts etc. There was a hill in the lake causing a spot where the ice was always thin due to only about a half foot of water. We always avoide the spot. One day a guy who was visiting somebody run right over the spot and his car crushed trough the ice. It was not bad since the floor was still above water. We tried to get it back on the thick ice but the edge of the ice always gave up. At the end he went to near by village and brought back a guy with tractor and long cable. We made a channel in the ice in the direction the car was pulled toward the shore. The problem was that there was about 5 feet of water at he deepest point. It was fun to watch the car slowly going under and then reappearing closer to the shore while teasing the owner mercilessly. The cars in sixties were simple so after short effort he was able to start and drive the car home.

First time on the site, but when I was 14, I was clearing some ground for a skateboard ramp with my dad's sears GT. Had the trailer on back, and brakes that worked worse that first gear. Started down the hill to dump a load and realized first was just too slow. Once I popped the tractor out of gear the brakes would not stop it and I was along for the ride. Doing a 6 wheel slide into the turn at the bottom of the hill, the tractor finally hooked up and I slammed into the inside corner of the ditch at what the neighbor said was 40 mph. I rolled with the tractor (no Rops back then) then the trailer unhooked and slammed into the back of the trailer. All I remember is watching it cartwheel over me.

I only had a cut on my hand, with a scar to this day, but nothing sticks with you like the look on your dad's face when you roll his tractor.

Newbie here....when I was about 12 my parents had gone away for the day, leaving me "in charge" of my younger siblings. As one who has always been fascinated by all things mechanical, I decdied to go "play" with our AC B110 garden tractor. I started it and stood back listening to it run. Soon bored with that, I decided to lift the seat and look at the drive train while it was running. It used an idler pulley for the clutch and as I stared at the moving belt, I felt compelled to touch it. Well, it grabbed the middle finger of my left hand and sucked it into the pulley and promptly stalled the 10 horse motor, leaving my finger still trapped. What to do? I yelled for help for about 10 minutes to no avail. I then managed to pull the belt backwards and free my finger. A trip to the ER (thanks to a neighbor) resulted in several stitches and a scar that is a reminder to this day.

Welcome to TBN!

You're lucky you kept your finger. The joke growing up was that the average person in the congregation at church had 9 fingers. I live in Potato Country, and there are a lot of cogs, sprockets, belts, and pulleys on potato harvesting equipment that are just waiting to bite you if you don't respect them.

One guy always claimed that he had a friend in a neighbooring community who was missing all the same fingers that this guy still had. His quip was that they'd swap gloves after a while and make each pair of gloves last twice as long. I still wonder if he was telling the truth.

The other day I was coming up a hill and we had a good 2 ft of snow so I downshifted and ripped the whole shifter off

Luckily the farmer was understanding as it was just wear and tear that lead towards that

I finally was able to get out last night & clear out our driveway. I built on the windiest place on the planet and deal with some nasty drifts. I was using my rear mount blower last night. The wind was still up, I lost my bearings and backed the blower into one of the beautiful Cleveland Select Pear trees I planted. Split the poor thing in half. It broke my heart. As luck would have it the wind and snow stopped so it's very obvious what I did. Forgot to mention it happened directly in front of the front door:mad:
