I got a new replacement winch already. Amazon was quick. Since this was a gift from the wife, I'm gonna give this superwinch one more shot. Quick question.....

When winding the rope on for the first time am I pressing in or out on the rocker switch to wind it correctly? I'm a winch newbie

I don't know about your winch but on my Warn you could wind it either way. The only thing is that my winch has an 'IN" and "OUT" rocker switch. If I wind it the wrong way "IN" would become "OUT". Good luck with your new winch. It's pretty amazing how much weight this things will pull. A whole lot more pulling power than using a tow strap behind an ATV.

This may or may not help but my winch winds in via under the spool so looking at it from the driver's side it would be running counter clockwise. Check your fair lead hause opening and whichever way your rope does not rub on the upper or lower edge is probably the right way for you to wind it in. If your rocker switch has "in" "out" on it check to see if they actually roll in or out as to your winding, if not then perhaps your wires are reversed.

Its kind of confusing, the instructions are vague, but state to "underwind" the rope on and it should unwind from the bottom of the spool. If I push the in or out button, either way it will wind the rope on but I'm wondering If I wound it wrong the first time causing the damage to the other winch??

I just looked at mine and it is as nickle plate says. It's fed in from the bottom. Standing on the driver's side the spool turning counterclockwise feeds the rope in. Makes sense. When I am lifting my snow blade all the pressure is on the fairlead and not pulling directly against the spool.

Wind it so all the pressure will against the fairlead when lifting something from the ground.

Alright, pushing "in" on the rocker switch turns the drum counter clockwise, I just checked. So, I did it right with the first winch, I'll do it the same with this one  Thanks for quick help guys

did you know you have to stretch the rope first time out .You have to hook to some thing lke a tree or pole with all the rope out and wind it in,pulling the bike until fully wound,If you don't the rope stands a chance of breaking when you need to get your self unstuck

Ah come on! I just wound it on. I guess I can un spool it tomorrow and do that. It didn't mention that process in the manual. For the cable option it said wind with a 100lb minimum load. Nothing mentioned for the synthetic
