hst shift or manuel?

Of course some of the newer tractors have pretty light clutches, so people really do need to think ahead; well everyone but John.

I find it ironic that my Kubota L3400HST has the easiest to push in clutch of any tractor I have ever owned, and I only have to push it once per startup:laughing: unless using the PTO.

That is the one thing I really dislike about Kubotas. My manual say to use it to change ranges, put it in 4WD, but I just use it on start up.

The clutch on our M8540 is also pretty easy to use though I often use the clutch by moving the shuttle shift.

the clutch is easy to push on my MX5100 HST as well.but im glad i only have to clutch it to start.because my clutch leg can no longer push a clutch to the floor an it quickly weakens thus popping the clutch an riding a wheelie.

I have one gear tractor with manual steering I keep around so I can argue with Roy and his cronies. You need to have one of each to appreciate how handy the hst is.

I live in the "Bootheel" or "Swampeast Missouri". Two of our farms are in the last hills before you hit the flatlands though. We have about 2" on the ground and it is still snowing though I doubt we will get much.

We lived in KC a couple of years in the 70's and got LOTS of snow there.

I think you guys get hit with more than we do.

The neighbor is out in my driveway, plowing it and the road. with his little Bolens.. looks almost like 6 inches on the part of the driveway he has cleared, still lightly snowing. I am at "work" on a seminar now, cannot go out and help, but he seems to be doing a good job so far.

So what do you other hydro lovers think of the "treadle pedal" vs the 2 pedal setup? Go ahead, let me have it, I can take it:laughing:

Mine has Kubota's upside down & backwards "L" shaped treadle, & I think it's great. I have the option of either resting my foot completely on top of the pedal like you describe, & rocking my foot forward & backward, which so far I haven't really liked to do, or set my heal on the floor to the right of the treadle & press the treadle's extension bar to go forward. To go back I slide my foot back & press the rear of the treadle. That's how I do it & I'm pleasantly pleased

How interesting, my treadle is much different, and further back toward the operator, it also looks like yours would be easier to transfer your left foot over and hit one of the split brakes, as you dont have as big of a hump in the middle.
I use the cruise control to set forward speed and then use right foot on split brakes, the few times I have needed it.

Those pedals are a nightmare in my opinion. You mean you have to plan to use cruise to operate a brake pedal? Kubota makes a a very good tractor with the exception of this pedal arrangement.

That pedal arrangement is laughable.:laughing::laughing:
