Comparison 5101E VS 6100D vs 5095m

That is some very sound reasoning, I don't think the 95M would have any problem running a 9 foot disc mower, my 2420 runs a KUHN eight-foot GMD 800 HD with no problem only about 51 PTO horsepower. I'm going to go see dealer this week and kick tires and get some prices on the 6000 series. The last time I spoke to the dealer he claimed a better deal on a 6000 series than the 5M-series makes you scratch your head how that can be? One other brand I've been looking at MF 97 hp 2680 series HD a very heavy tractor about 83 PTO horsepower close to 11,000 pounds pretty decent price with a cab and heavy-duty loader just some options to think about. shouldn't be any starting problems with the proper fuel and oils and good old-fashioned maintenance, and a block heater wouldn't hurt either ;-) I'll let you know when I get some prices on the 6000 hopefully tomorrow or possibly Thursday were expecting a big storm tomorrow take care

All three would do the job. I have 5083E on 80 ac and it does everything I need to do.

I'd go with 6100D. More tractor, will handle other (new) implements that you don't have (yet).

If you are sure you'll not expand, buy new implements or land, go with 5101E.

I think, your JD dealer is right. 6100 series is for full-time farmers. Designed for every day heavy use. More money, more steel. Like some old timer said: "Choose your new tractor to the biggest job you possibly might have and buy one level above that"

E&M series is for part-time, small, hobby farmers.

My suggestion to look at the 6115 was twofold, a little extra power to handle the difference between gears on the 9 sp tranny and secondly most of the farmers seem to prefer the 6115 over the 6100. The ones I have talked to feel it is better to have a few more horses under the hood.

You should be able to buy a new 6115 for about 10 to 15% off. A deluxe series should be about 18% off. That has been my recent experience shopping in the last two years. I purchased my fully loaded 110tlb for 19% off, the 4520 for 18% off and the new X749 for 15% off, so these listed discounts are realistic.

Although I absolutely love my 5101E, I'd suggest the 5095M for what you want to use it for. Particularly for two reasons. Cab comfort / ergonomics, and gears. You mention putting about 400 hours a year on it. With that much time in the seat, the 5101 isn't laid out very well. The M series cabs are laid out much better and would allow for a little smoother operation. For what I use my 5101 for (about 130 hours/year) I really don't wish for more than the 12f/12r gears, however, if I was doing what you describe, I can definitely see myself wishing for more. The extra gears in the 5095M and the M series cab would be worth the money to me.

I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with one of my local JD dealers. He knows my operation and my uses. He agreed with my concern about the lack of transmission options on the 6D series tractors, especially with hay baling.

He believes the "Limited" series would work pretty well and would be quite affordable. He went on to say the "M" series has a lot more comfort features if I was willing to pay a little more, adding that either would work well in my situation.

He recommended not going below the 5085M or the 5083E. He thinks both would meet my hp needs now and in the future. He didn't think there was a significant weight difference between the two series.

He is working up some figures and we will meet sometime next week when I have more time. I will share with all when I know more.

Is anyone out there pulling a newer style baler with a 5085M? If so, how does it handle the baler.

Another quick question about John Deere financing. They are offering a 0% five year financing. How much down do they require if a person has excellent credit and will be making monthly payments rather than annual payments.

When I checked with Case-IH they were willing to finance with 0% for five years with no money down as, as long as it was on a monthly installments.

don't know if you mean round or square bales. i pull a new holland bc5060 square baler with my kubota m8550 with no problems. that is with a full kicker wagon on some hilly fields. that baler needs 62pto hp. it's weight is a little over 3,400#.

I would think with excellent credit you can get 0 down and 0 for 60 months. I like to put 25 to 50% down on large purchases to reduce the payments. In todays economy with 0% loans it is better to use Deeres' money IMO. You should still be able to get 15% off on the tractor price too.

I finally have some prices. My dealer priced out a 5095M and a 5093E Limited. The M is priced with the remote E-hitch and air seat. Other than that they are similarly equiped (obviously the M has more bells and whistles). The M was $52,300 and the E Limited was $41,500. Add a 553 Loader for $5800.

After much discussion, I am probably leaning toward the E Limited. The only option that I would like to have on the E Limited but it's not available is the remote E-hitch. My concern about the M is all those electronics and I can just picture a mouse eating thru one of the wires causing havoc.

I also have some reservations about the 553 loader.

Any comments would be appreciated.
