This morning I spent almost 2 hours blowing snow off my driveway, more than twice as long as it normally takes!

We had another 15"+ last night, 3-4" yesterday. The drifts on the driveway were over 2 feet deep.

Of course the highlight of my morning adventure was hitting the garbage bag that my wife had left at the top of the driveway. It was next to the mailbox completely buried. It does make an interesting contrast coming out of the blower chute. . . Had to get another bag & pick up what I could.

The snow on our deck is now 5-6' deep - I'm ready for summer!

You are right -

Here are a few I just shot

A front view of the house - we can't get out the front door

Our yellow lab on the driveway - the dogs can't go anywhere except on areas I've cleared with the blower

We have been out of propane for a week (they won't come down the driveway. Only use it for a gas dryer & grill on the deck. I made a path from the driveway down the rear lawn (too steep to go all the way down) so the driver could get to our tank with the hose - under deck in rear.

Hilarious. My deck looks the same - I've been taking a couple of pics of it every storm for a time-lapse effect...

I officially hit the height limit for my lawn tractor blower today - I can't shoot over the top of the piles at the end of my driveway any more. They're big f'ers.

You're growing some impressive icesickles too... not necessarily a good thing. At least you survived the super-cold... I have water trickling out of a ceiling in a rental unit as we speak. Might make for a delay in cleaning up this last storm if fixing it sucks up my weekend...

Thats a bunch of snow. Real nice house you have there from the little bit I can see. Sure is pretty though. Maybe 8" on the ground here and I'm ready for spring also.:)

I'm in CT also. The TC29 is gettin' a good workout, don't know what I'd do without it.

Best get some ventilation on the roof or you will have water under the shingles and into the house quick.

You may even have non-insulated areas that need attention.

Much cheaper to fix it now that after the leaks and rot occur.

Oh, don't forget to shovel off the deck before the boards break. Ditto for the roof. Ain't winter a joy?

It's getting to the critical point where any more is gonna really cause some serious problems. Roads are choked and buildings are caving in.

I've got no more room to put the snow and January isn't even over.

Pushing my machine hard, worried something is gonna break.

I was gonna start a thread titled "My Kingdom for a Snow Blower" That's what I was thinking today running out of space to plow the snow. Never thought I would seriously consider a 3PT snow Blower, but I am now!

Just as I suspected.......you can also keep it. Got more than enough here.
Our Propane tank is along side the the house about 100ft from our driveway and we use the snowmobiles to pack a path to the tank for the delivery guy.

I don't want to sound like mother hen but......

You have a serious amount of snow on your roofs. 3 years ago I lost my garage to snow and ice. It imploded. Felt like I had just gone through a fire.

I know how you feel. Exhausted, fatigued, frustrated and worn out. Large amounts of snow does this to the human spirit.

You have a beautiful home. All the snow on it will turn to heavy ice due to melting. I assume your roof is shingled.?? Water damage can and will occur...you may or may not notice. I am more concerned of the heavy weight on house. Sure, you have a good roof pitch but, that is a lot of snow...with more likely to come.

It is too much for one man to handle. I was overwhelmed keeping my house and driveway clear of snow build-up. I neglected the garage...when I got up on the garage roof it was too late. I had 3 solid feet of ice. 1 week later it came down.

I am just trying to get you to think about what can occur....respectfully.

Consider hireing a group of people to clear your roofs. It is soo important that it gets done. You could be one of us. Water damage is one thing, not good. Haveing your home implode could cause death. I have seen the destruction first hand.

Best wishes.

I don't make much clearing snow from drives etc. been doing OK on the roofs but it hard work, can't do many in one day. Have to pick the right ones.

Me either, but I would at least clear the eaves for a couple feet, there is a good chance there is ice building on your roof above those icicles. See what's going on there at least.

I never know quite when to start worrying, and even though I have metal roofs with 100% Ice & Water shield coverage and trusses on 16" centers, I usually start working on clearing some when it gets much over 2' deep. A lot depends on the moisture level of the snow too. Better safe & sore muscles than sorry.

We have had a bit more here in cottage country (2.5 hours N. of Toronto), but nothing like the poor guys in CT. man, could I use some of that snow on my blower! I have been praying for 18" or so all at once, so I can REALLY see if the beast can handle it like I think it can!

Until I moved to Northern Wisconsin - I never heard of the term 'Ice Dam'. Google it. You gotta be real attentive or you may wish you could hand the house back to the bank.

You also need to bring out your Home Owner's policy .. there may be some serious incentives for you to get a crew up there today.

And the stuff we get out East is not VAIL powder. It was heavy enough here last Winter to collapse an aircraft hangar with about five vintage planes in it. Like Poor JDGG .. this fellow got hammered. Mother Nature does not care if you are nice to stray cats.

Thanks for all the good advice guys. I am going home today & try knocking off all the ice I can reach. The roof pitch is 1 to 1 - nobody going up there till spring. Prior to this last storm part of the roof was actually clean. I am sure it was due to the fact that the snow up to now has been pretty dry. That coupled with the roof pitch & wind have kept a lot off of it.

The good news is I have a new propane company coming today to make a delivery. Ahhh clean clothes again!
