I bought a Yanmar tiller a while ago with a broken input shaft. It was cheap, so I thought I'd buy it and fix it.

Oops. I didn't realize I couldn't get parts.

I think it's a RS1300. It's overall width is about 54" and it's tilling width is about 43ish inches. It's a gear drive tiller too.

Does anyone know where I can get an input shaft?

If I can't find one I'm going to weld it and see what happens.

Thanks!

I have that same tiller, it is a good one. That 1300 is mm which converts to 51.18 inches. I don't think you will find a new shaft. Being in the Pacific Northwest I would encourage you to contact Ernie's Imports. He might well have a used one. If not, I say weld it up. Good luck.

We just recycled 13 rototillers for the metal $$$

What color is the tiller, green or red?

It's green. Kind of like the green that was on the Forest Service trucks.

Yeah, talk about $$$ for metal. I just took a bunch of sheet metal and copper. $220 a ton for tin and $3.90 a pound for copper. Unreal.

All of the old Yanmar importers used to get a tiller with every tractor, and no doubt there are still plenty sitting oround. No doubt, Yanmar forum searches could probably locate them, plus there are always salvage yards that may have bought them up.

Well, I got some leads but they didn't have the part. I've decided to weld the input shaft and go easy on it until I can find a good part or if I can find a good deal on a different tiller.

Thanks for the help!

Maybe phone Ernie's local scrap dealer to see if they will sell you a whole junk tiller?

When you get going with it be sure and watch your drive line as you raise your tiller. I wouldn't doubt that shaft being broken because of the drive line being to long and bottoming out while raising causing the shaft to break off. May just be a wild idea but in my mind more likely than pto turning force.

If he took his scrap to where I think he did, they run through their scrap extremely fast, especially with prices so high right now.
