Mowing Any recommendations on tires for 770?

I recently bought a 770 4x4 for mowing, brush clearing and loader work. It needs new front tires. Any recommendation? Pictures would be great!

What kind (brand) of tires do you have now?

Your best bet is to buy the same brand to ensure the proper ratio between front and rear tires is maintained. Since the 770 has MFWD, you cannot throw just any tire up front.

The tractor had mismatch fronts on it when I bought it. One is a firestone ag tire but leaks badly and not much tread left. The other is a cheap tire from local farm store, not even same size as the firestone tire. So I'm just planning to start over .

What's on the rear? Are they matched? If not, you might want to consider replacing all 4...

Need to know what tires are on the rear.. once you have that info.. look up the 3005 (790) and match the fronts that go with those rears.

I had a 770 with turfs and changed over to R4's before I sold it... (The R4's on the B7800 kubota will work on the 770 and be within the proper mfwd lead.)

The turf tires are 13.6-16 rear, 25x8.50-14 fronts
R4's= 15-19.5 rears, 25-8.50-14 frts
R1's= 11.2-24 rears, 7.00-14 frts.

What I used on my 770, R4's= 12.4-16 rears, 23-8.50-14 frts. The mfwd frt wheel lead falls within deere spec.... The 770 (790, 3005) mfwd ratio from Deere is 1.571, the front lead is subtracted from this number..ie: mine ended up being 1.549. this equals 1.4%+ front wheel lead.

Here's what I have on the rear (photo attached). Firestone R1 12.4-16 in good shape. Recommendations for fronts?

As long as I'm learning, what's the difference between R1 and R4?

I recommend a 7-12 R1 front tire. This should put you in the ball park for front lead.

R1 tires are also call ag tire as in agricultural tire, 1st+3rd pictures.. also called bar tires.
R4 are heavy duty industrial tires, the bars aren't as deep, the sidewalls are thicker and stronger. 2nd+4th pictures

R1 tires are mainly used for farm jobs..ei: plowing fields..but they have very good traction..so if traction is the driving need..R1.
R4 tires are used for rough work.. you'll see them on backhoes and skid steers, they can take a lot of abuse.. and they are a bit gentler on lawns.. you said mowing, loader, brush clearing? sounds like R4 to me.

Yes, R4s sound like the way to go. R4s hold up to a full bucket better than R1s and also have better flotation on soft ground where as the R1s will sink in and leave ruts.
