I needed to get water and electric to the barn and do some more site work and then have shale brought in so the cement trucks could get in. So I start with water and electric to the barn. When I brought electric in from road I went to a back stop so it could split to go the house and the barn. When we dug the well we had and just placed some pipe so we could find it later.
I had hire a guy to help me with much of the work, mowing, weed eating, helping with the barn. He had no great skills I just needed labor. I am working full time now and trying to do all this at nights and weekends. So I dig the ditch with excavator. I told the guy I hired to fill in with Sand as there are so many rocks. To place water pipe and electric to barn. The water pipe is in conduit pipe and so is the electric in scheduled 80. Also buried phone line out to barns at the same time. Every day you would have to pump the ditch as there is so much ground water here it filled with in 24 hours. And lord the rocks that come out the ground here are incredible.
I have a MF 165 with bucket I had told Doug (the guy I hired to help) to place sand in the ditch with the tractor. We had not finished digging it toward the house.
Now I had told Doug what I wanted done and he had worked for me for about 2 or 3 months. He had Mondays off from his regular job and we talk before I left for work in the morning. What I came home to that night really made me mad. Doug must of decided to try and use the excavator to fill in the sand and mange to collapse the ditch with the pipe in it. I was going to dig the rest of the trench that night when I came home and put the pipe in. I was trying to get the parking area done as I had a dozer guy waiting to do parking area and shale trucks coming to lay base for parking area. At the same time he managed to run the track off the excavator. What a mess I came home to, no sight of Doug till this day I have never seen him again. To say I was a little angry is an under statement.

OK loghouse what do you mean by that?

The next day I start to clean up the mess. Pump the ditch hand dig some of it out. Finally I get water line and we cover with more sand and some dirt then I get electrical guy here and we bury the electric, and yes we have a light in the barn and power. So Jim my dozer guy and I start to cover ditch and do the parking area. I started to dig out the bank on the over hang side of the barn I want to make that wide enough for two cars tractors what ever, it was nice and dry now and level.
So I am showing how I dug out the bank and Jim would push it to the other side we filled a great deal on that side of the barn we moved the back side of the barn to the front side of the barn to make parking area and stonewall fences.

Also if you notices we have piled dirt around the outside of the barn to bring crusher run to pre ground for concrete.

Now we have water and power to barn the next thing is concrete. Prepare for concrete I had some stone put down when the barn was built a little dozer work done. We had to fill in one side of the barn with dirt to get the site some level. I wanted the floor pitched certain ways for kennel floor. I need to show how I laid out kennel and then I can show you how I pitched the floor

If you refer to the PDF in the last post you will see that the kennel are in teh grey area so the concrete needed to pitch toward the center of grey. There is a channel there and that channel pitches to from the right to the center of the building to the center and the same thing with the channel on the left side of building remember just look at the grey area.

Now when you look at jpg in this post it will make sense and I drew the pipes to septic in a little.

So hopefully now it will make sense.

I hired a guy with skid steer to do the pitches I needed and I think he did a good job. Also he used a tamper even though it was two years the barn had been up so everything should of settle in that time.

The pic barng4 is all the stuff he took out to get the levels he needed.

The pic gravel is before he started

The pic barng1 is after he had the grades the sides

The pic barng2 is the 30 X 40 which is level

I did some research radiant floor insulation. I got the stuff in the internet and I do not remember from who, now I remember it was expensive and the building inspector told me to tape it up to the bottom sill so we did. It was a moisture barrier, reflected the heat back up, and had like an R15 value. We also laid pink board which was like and R5 or R4 I can not remember. We also used a wire mesh even though I was going to use concrete with fiber glass I needed something to zip tie pex tub to.
I had gotten an estimate for someone to lay the tubing and he said it was a weeks work, he did not do concrete prep, it would take 2 men a week and he wanted $20,000 and this included nothing but the tubing. That is $250 a MAN PER HOUR I almost came unhinged on the phone, he said go ahead and do it yourself and you will calling back to fix it.
I told him I did not think he so smart he should make more then a brain surgeon and I WOULD TAKE his advice and do it myself. I thought I could lay tubing 12 inches on center and make sure returns are on an out side wall, and be able to use zip ties, and I think my runs were sized at 250 or 300 feet a run. The people I bought the tubing from did a lay out but it was not hard. I have 3600 feet of tubing and I did think I would die from back pain before I could finish zip tieing the tubing. My poor uncle and friends helped me on this again.
Maybe he got some people to pay that price, but I was not going to be one of them! From the dates on some of pics it looks like it was Sept 2007.

We do our first concrete pour and do the 30 X 40 first. I hired some guys part time that poured sidewalks for a living and they did a great job. Of course I was always there as we did everything on the weekends and I always helped.
