magnetic towing lights

I have used several sets of HF mag lights, I like the fact that they are red on one side and yellow on the other. I bought a set from Northern and the magnet was much stronger but they had no connectors just plugs on each wire I had to make my own flat connector and they have only red on one side. With the HF lights you need to tie them down or they will bounce off but you can see if they are working it the mirrow. I use the mag lights because when I loan a trailer the lights never work when its returned. Wife says don't loan but I just can't say no when they help all the time.

Be nice to find something for $5-10 bucks that's sealed up good.

I hear you, but if they are the same as a tractor trailer set up, I doubt you'll find one as there would be no application for it. A semi isn't gonna pull a single axle home owner utility trailer.

I'm thinking alot of shrink wrap :)

Would like to add towing lights to my mowers when roading.
John Deere wants $469 for their light kit. Looks great, but $469???

Found these: White Oliver Magnetic Light Kit 39' 7 Pin Plug & Case | eBay

Anyone find any other types that have a built in 7 pin plug that fits right into tractor outlet and a one piece harness?

I don't want to mess with homemade, however if there was a 7 pin tractor connector to 4 pin flat adapter, there are lots of alternatives on *bay. I know there's 7 pin spade to 4 pin flat, but haven't seen a 7 pin tractor type to 4 pin flat, yet.

harbor freight sent me a flyer / sales/ and had the magnetic base lamps plus harness to 4 pin flat for 10$.. add a few $ 4 to 7 adapter and you are set.

I picked up a set in case I ever loose trailer lamps on a trip home.. I'll just stick those on and be legal..

I don't do Harbor freight. Been disappointed too many times by their cheap junk.

Flashers falling off is something I dont want to worry about when roading equipment.
I think I'll do the kit on Ebay. Looks purpose-built for tractors.

I've got a magazine ad for Sloan Express (sloanex.com). They carry a bunch of Ag parts. They show a light kit:
35' wishbone harness
7-pin ag plug
Tail, flasher and turn function
$99

builder.. seems like a couple zip ties saves a whole lotta cost.

the lamps themselves ( I went and looked at them ) look to be the same type of housings sold at napa as replacement trailer lamps.

the 4 wire flat wireing is the same double coated stuff sold by hoppy at tractor supply.. has clear sheath, then individual insulated lines. looks like htey just stuck a magnetic base on them. sure.. magnets could be stronger.. but heck.. zip tie fixes that.

besides.. al these new tractors have plastic and fiberglass fenders.. almost no real metal on them now.. :)

These Harbor Freight magnetic lights are decent, especially for the price . They have a 4 pin connector.

For the difference in price, have an electrical shop wire you up an adapter.

I second these. I have had a set for years. Got them for $9.99. Figured the wiring and bulbs were worth that. I transport all types of trailers and they have never failed me when the trailers lights did not work properly.

for 9$ it's sure worth having a backup if you haul alot.

We picked up 2 pair to put on the haywagons and other hay equipment when they go down the road. That way there is some indication of where you are going to those behind you. For $10, why not?
On the one set that we have used, the stop/turn and the tail light filaments were wired backwards. So, the running lights were brighter than the brake/turn lights. I rewired them and all is well now.

I bought a set and they work great, but when I first got them both sides were wired backwards. I had to take them apart and rewire them. So far they have stayed on the trailer without bouncing off.
