thats a nice improvement, leaving on the 3pt arms AND the MMM. not that I have a hoe but the convenience of leaving the MMM on is a nice addition. now, anyone got 7k I can have?

Nice looking hoe, I wonder if they increased the digging force? I like that you can leave on the the 3 point arms. What they did was shorten the under carriage, it looks more like the 375 and 485 to me. Not cheap, they never are but when you need a hoe they're worth every penny!

According to several dealers, the JD 270 hoe has been delayed until September - October 2011. The suspected reason is that JD wants to sell off remaining 46 hoes before releasing the 270.
Oh, I hope not. Oct is about end of digging season for me, by the end of Oct i start getting the snowblower ready. I can't imagine buying the 46 hoe now knowing about the 270.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The delay in availability until Sep - Oct 2011 came direct from my dealer. I, too, am looking forward to trying the 270 out and possibly buying one. I believe the hoe was originally slated for release in December 2010 and then April 2011 before the latest brochure stated summer 2011, and now we're hearing autumn of this year. It reportedly was shown at a dealer's show last year with a mechanical thumb -- something I badly want with it and the reason I'm waiting (as well as the ability to leave the 3pt hitch on). But I haven't yet officially seen anything mentioning the thumb on the JD site or in their literature.
Looks like the 270 unit is what I will get if all in the description is a fact. I just can't see having to drop the 3PH , MMM brackets and hydraulic lift kit to install a Backhoe, and put it all back when you are finished. In the video I looked at before buying my 2720 they showed the operator backing up to the hoe and picking it up, then got off to connect the hydraulic hoses and drove away. I assumed it was that simple. My dealer never told me what would be involved in mounting a backhoe to my machine, and he knew what my plans were for getting a hoe in a few months. Can't trust salesmen on long distance deals. Thanks for all this information guys, still the best tractor site on the net!!

I've been told that no price has yet been released, even to dealers. But, have heard speculated it'll be around $7,000 give or take, a few hundred more if you add the thumb.

Oh! And just to be accurate, it's a model 270, which means it'll dig to seven feet deep.
