No not me Rick I am wondering why would I do that? I am sure you know but I haven't figured it out?

I can see a person maybe using several home built shanks and shovels to use as a lister using the various positions for the rippers he could add into the box blade for planting/furrowing.

Well I wont be digging taters this weekend someone in my family left a hose on in the okra and tomatoes row for the second time in 2 weeks.

I wont say any names but his initials are CD and flooded one end of my tater patch. Dang it all to heck anyway this is 2 weekends in a row I shot myself out of tractoring my taters up.

I got one of those hose timers. Works great for avoiding that.

Yup agreed good point hahaha and next year all my rows will be on them right now my corn is using the only one I do have its a nice thing to have rather than rely on memory! :D

A friend asked me to dig his taters Saturday so I did his 2 80 ft rows took a whole 20 minutes from off load plow and on load done. When I got home I looked at my dirt and decided it was worth a shot.

So I mowed the tops and dug them anyway it was a little damp still but workable fwtw yukon golds do not produce like red potatoes do unfortunately.

I went back thru with the MB the next day and got a few more stragglers before I leveled it my buddy will be calling me back next year he was amazed at how easy that made the job.

The Kennebecs are calling ... I cannot ignore them. The Plant Manager served up the last few sad looking remnants of last years crop for dinner, last week, and they still tasted great. Now we have none (above ground).

Take pics!

My advice is plow deep and get for sure under them and start well back from the start of the row.

On mine I had the top of the plow about even with the ground and I went about as fast as I can walk.

I did a test run at my buddy's place on bare dirt outside his garden so I could get the depth right after that I knew where it was on mine.

And btw you will cut a few up its unavoidable we keep them aside and eat them first.

C'mon, you guys. It is now upside down. also, the point doesn't seemto extend below the body. Turn the blade around, angle it w/the point slightly below the wings and use downpressure to get it started. If your ground is hard, you may want to use the chisel point. I believe you can buy it separately. My Cat. 0 came with both types. The blade you have is also called a "potato plow", which indicates to me you need softer ground.
I have barely used mine, I have it on a Cat. 1 (Yanmar) so had to bush the pins. It is still pretty sturdy, though.

Last year the subcut dug them just fine, this year, a different tractor, but same plow. Pontiac Reds and Kennebecs await, but they'll keep for another few weeks, no hurry. I'd never go back to digging by hand.
