Mowing mowing a 10 acre field

What is the best implement to mow a 10 acre field that has rough terrain, rocks. I own a jd 4420 and am not sure which type of implement is best and what size.

6-ft wide rotary mower (aka brush hog, bush hog, shredder, slasher). Mine is a 6-ft Hawkline that cost about $1150 when I bought it 3 years ago.

How much money do you wanna spend? You've got some horsepower to work a pretty big rotary mower - 10'-15' - if you want to go that route.

If you want to avoid as many obstacles (rocks, etc. as possible; I'd be looking for a semi-mount mower with hyd lift on the rear wheels.

You can start out mowing "high" until you know more about things to look out for and mow a little closer after the initial once over.

Go with the(Rotary cutter) pull-type 8ft or better!!! Cuts down on your mowing time and I put ours threw alot, just make sure you get the HD or better!!

I agree with a brush hog as the tool but rocks and mowers can create a dangerous situation. Mowers can shoot rocks like bullets so be careful if it isn't possible to eliminate most of the rocks prior to mowing.

Not trying to nit-pik here but I need some explaination or clearity on your model of tractor... The only 4420 Deere I know is a Combine, it concerns me than others on this page reccomend a 8-10 foot cutter, eloborate on what this would be based on.. A 4430 or 4440, would be north of 120 pto h.p. and being a tractor, capable of pulling a 12-15 foot rough mower..

I was saying 8ft or better,once you get into the larger (flatdecks)you start having gate problems(no fit) or you get into batwings with more cylinders and stuff to up keep. Im not against 15ft batwings wish I had one!!!!
