New Yanmars!

Hi guys, I am usually on the Cub Compact site but found this thread interesting as I just found out about this today from my dealer. I have a CCY Sc2400 and it is a great machine. Was a little shocked when I heard they were splitting. My local dealer believes that there will be a fair amount of CCY dealers sign on with Yanmar, as that is what his plan is. His guess is that Cub is going to be out of the compact market all together. According to his info, Yanmar will take over the warranty on the CCY tractors and will keep the current lineup that Cub Yanmar offers. One would think with MTD out of the picture that there is now one less hand to pay and the prices would be very competitive. One interesting aspect that my dealer mentioned was possibly having some Yanmar construction equipment available for sale. One thing that I will disagree with most of you on is the color. I love the black and yellow...it matches my vehicles which are all black.

Yanmar has been a well respected name in diesel engines for as long as I can remember. If it wasn't for the Cub Cadet name on them I would have considered them when I was buying.

It is great to see another company doing everything from design to delivery.
Maybe one day we'll see an American company do that again?????? And I'm talking any product, not just tractors.

If Yanmar will keep the same models, I would think that they would just change the yellow to red paint but leave the black hood. Either way, I welcome Yanmar back to the CUT market.

Wonder if Yanmar officially getting back into the US market as a "sole" brand will impact in any way parts support for older models. Or will the greys still be unwanted stepchildren?

More than likely we will still have to get grey market parts from Hoye but I am curious if they will offer parts for their domestic models such as the 186D, 155D, 169D, 276D, 336D, etc.

Support for the 70's-80's US Yanmars is still available from Yanmar-USA. Some shops who once sold them are still Authorized Yanmar Parts dealers. My local Deere dealer is (was?) one. But Hoye has a broader stock of replica parts for the 30 year old models.

I expect all of Yanmar's operations in the US will still refuse support for the gray imports, since those weren't originally built to conform to US safety specs. (and they lost an expensive lawsuit over that issue several years ago).

Hoye should do fine. Buyers of the new Yanmars will also want access to third-party parts.
